More voices. More awareness. More action.

Mia Hernandez, MSS, Supervisor II of the Domestic Violence Assistance Program at Waymakers, sits down with us to talk about what it really takes to protect older adults from abuse, and why this conversation can't stop in June.

Because every older adult deserves to live free from fear.

Even more photos!

As Waymakers’ Social Media Manager, I have the privilege of capturing some of those candid moments throughout the day, from early morning setup and volunteer teamwork to laughter on the course and celebrations at the awards reception.

Here are a few of my favorite photos from this year’s Swing For Kids Charity Golf Tournament. Thank you to everyone who joined us, supported our mission, and helped make this event such a success.

We loved sharing the day with you and can’t wait to do it again next year! ⛳️💙

We are still smiling from an incredible day at the 41st Annual Swing For Kids Charity Golf Tournament! ⛳️💙

Today we’re sharing some of the beautiful moments captured by Anthony Rajanayagam of Centerpoint Pictures. Anthony has partnered with Waymakers at many events over the years, helping us preserve the memories, connections, and impact that make our mission possible.

From the golfers and sponsors to our volunteers and supporters, these photos showcase the community that comes together to help create brighter futures for children, youth, and families throughout Orange County.

Thank you, Anthony, for once again capturing the spirit of this special event.

You Don’t Have to Carry It Alone.⁣

Mental health matters for everyone. This June, we recognize the importance of supporting the men and boys in our community and encouraging open, honest conversations about mental wellness.⁣

True strength isn’t about carrying burdens in silence; it’s about having the courage to reach out when the weight becomes too heavy.⁣

Too often, young men and boys face immense, unspoken pressures, whether it’s navigating the trauma of violent crime, managing intense mental health struggles, or facing the daily pressure to turn to substances or gang involvement just to cope.⁣

At Waymakers, we see these challenges firsthand, and we are dedicated to providing real, life-changing support right where it’s needed most:⁣

Healing After Trauma: Providing dedicated care and advocacy for male victims of violent crime to help them process trauma and reclaim their lives.⁣

Early Intervention: Offering safe spaces and mental health support through our youth shelters for young men navigating their hardest moments.⁣

Preventing the Pressure: Equipping youth with resilience through prevention programs that offer positive paths away from drugs, alcohol, and gang involvement.⁣

Let’s break the stigma and remind one another:⁣
💙 Check in on a friend⁣
💙 Start a conversation⁣
💙 Listen without judgment⁣
💙 Encourage support and connection⁣
💙 Remember: You matter⁣

We are committed to building a community where every man and boy feels heard, supported, and empowered to seek help.⁣

Strength Starts with Speaking Up.⁣

This Pride Month, Waymakers wants the LGBTQIA+ community in Orange County to know: you are seen, you are valued, and you deserve to feel safe.⁣

As the largest provider of victim services in Orange County, Waymakers understands that many individuals within the LGBTQIA+ community experience violence, abuse, harassment, trafficking, or assault, yet are less likely to report these experiences or seek support.⁣

There are many reasons incidents may go unreported, including fear of discrimination, past negative experiences with systems or institutions, concerns about confidentiality, fear of being outed, lack of culturally competent support, or uncertainty about whether services are truly safe and inclusive.⁣

At Waymakers, we want our community to know that help is available. No one should have to navigate trauma, violence, or crisis alone. Our team is committed to providing compassionate, trauma-informed support services to all individuals, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. During Pride Month and every month, we stand with the LGBTQIA+ community and reaffirm that everyone deserves dignity, support, and safety.⁣

If you or someone you know needs support, Waymakers is here Monday–Friday 8-5 (closed during lunch hours).
