IEEE UCI is the UCI branch of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, a worldwide professional organization. We attract majors from both EECS and ICS, since we now cater to both the hardware and software sides of computers and electronics. We also attract a lot of upperclassmen so if you ever need advice or some help, our members and usuals are often willing to help. We have our own

lab, ICS 225, in which we provide a lot of equipment and resources for members to use and practice with, such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, textbooks, and various electronic components like resistors, caps, IC’s, etc. We also have our own computers that we built, so we have the freedom to install whatever software we want, including games and obscure engineering software! We do a lot of events, such as workshops that cover various topics like how to get started on Arduino, how to prepare for interviews, or how to solder. We also do collaborate events such as the Zotcade gaming event with TAG at the end of the year, and the newly made cryptographic puzzle event called Crypto Crackdown with Cyber@UCI. We also do our own little fun events like the occasional movie night, board game night, and more. At the end of last year, we decided to revive the forgotten amateur radio club, whose equipment has just been lying around in MSTB without use. The Amateur Radio Club is now a sub-branch under IEEE UCI which focuses on learning and exploring radio equipment, perfect for those interested in telecom.

Hi everyone! On behalf of all the Open Project Space instructors, we are excited to announce that applications are open for the 2023-2024 academic year! 🥳

Open Project Space (OPS) is a year-long technical course in embedded systems. We introduce engineering students to topics relevant to their coursework and potential career paths.

As a member, you would complete several projects encapsulating the program’s topics, culminating in a final capstone project where you design and build a remote-controlled rover. We also host regular workshops and lectures to complement the projects.

You don’t have to be an engineering major. If you’re new to electronics or interested in Arduino, don’t hesitate to apply!

Hello there!

Want to work for a company in the space industry? Want to launch rockets from planes 35,000 feet in the sky? Want to send astronauts on missions to the moon and mars?

Well, this panel is for you! Come out to this event organized by SHPE, IEEE, and AIAA. Meet amazing panelists and hear from their experiences working for the top companies in the space industry on Monday, May 24th at 6PM.

You will have the opportunity to ask them questions and network with them in open breakout rooms, meaning you can hop around as you wish talking to our panelists.

Hello everyone! The application for our Open Project Space(OPS) program is now open! OPS is our workshop series where we give an introduction to Embedded Systems, which is perfect for anyone who wants to begin building projects with hardware but have no idea how to get started! Applications will be due on Sunday, October 8th at 11:59PM so you have roughly a week and a half to fill out the application. If you get accepted and decide to go through with the program then there is a $60 deposit and we will send you parts along with a cool t-shirt! You get to keep the parts and if you complete all the projects on time you also get your entire deposit back!

Looking to get some hands-on experience with using code to drive physical systems?

Apply for the Open Project Space (OPS), offered by IEEE UCI in collaboration with IEEE UCLA! Through OPS, you'll be provided with the components and tools needed to integrate both hardware and software interfaces into projects under the guidance of our OPS leads.

Space is limited, so be on the lookout for the application during Week 0 open from October 1st - October 8th!
