💛 Ironton Senior Center

The Senior Center is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday; offering opportunities for friendship, activities, connection and a good meal.

☕ 9:30am-Social hour
✨ 10:15am-Programming begins
🍽️ 11:30am-Lunch is served

Qualified seniors can enjoy a free, nutritionally balanced lunch, prepared right here in our commercially licensed kitchen.

📞 Planning to join us for lunch? Call or text (740) 377-5046 by 10:00am on the day of service to reserve your meal. Reservations are limited to 30 meals each day. Guest meals are also available for $10.

🎃 Then it’s time to talk PUMPKINS!

Join The Common Soil Collective, Third & Center’s community garden and environmental stewardship initiative; at Briggs Lawrence County Public Library Ironton Branch on Saturday September 5th at 1:00 PM for a pumpkin filled program!

In this adult workshop, we’ll be talking about pumpkin varieties, growing tips and everything you need to know to get your pumpkin growing adventure started! Whether you’re dreaming of carving your own jack-o-lantern, growing the perfect pie pumpkin or you’re just curious about what makes pumpkins tick, come learn with us! 🎃🌱

Plant Bingo is coming back!! 🪴🪩🕺🏻

Hey, plant people! 👀🌱

Remember our sold-out Spring Plant Bingo?! It was one of those nights that reminded us exactly why we love plants, laughter, a little friendly competition and a whole lot of community! 💚

Well… we’re doing it again! 🎉

The Common Soil Collective; a community garden and environmental stewardship initiative and proud community impact program with Third & Center; is getting ready for another round of Plant Bingo!

And right now, we’re still looking for a few more community sponsors to help us make this next night just as much fun as the last one. Sponsorships help us continue growing Common Soil and supporting the work happening in our community garden, environmental education, youth programming and opportunities for our community to get their hands in the soil. 🌱

🎨 Inspire Arts: Summer at the Library!

We had SO much fun creating with our friends at the library this summer! 💛

From making chia pet monsters and experimenting with shadow drawings, to designing our very own library bags to haul our books home in; Inspire Arts brought plenty of opportunities to get creative, get a little messy, and have fun together!🪴👹✍🏼📚🎒

And honestly? The library is one of our favorite places to create. ❤️

Our friends at Briggs Lawrence County Public Library are such an incredible asset to our community. They provide a space where people can learn, explore, connect, discover something new and, of course, make a little art along the way. We’re so grateful for the partnerships that make these kinds of experiences possible!

And guess what? The creativity doesn’t stop when summer does! 👀

Keep an eye on the library calendar because your friends at Third & Center will be popping back in this winter to help bring more Inspire Arts experiences to the community!

Come Spend Some Time With Us Next Week!

A new week means more opportunities to connect, enjoy good company and share a meal together at the Ironton Senior Center, a program of Third & Center!

The Center is open to senior citizens every Monday, Wednesday & Friday; with each day offering opportunities for friendship, activity and connection.

Our congregate meal program provides free, nutritionally balanced lunches for qualified seniors, prepared on site in our commercially licensed kitchen. Guest meals are also available for $10.

🌱 Looking for something to do this weekend? Come grow with us!

This Sunday, The Common Soil Collective; a Third & Center environmental stewardship initiative, will be spending the afternoon giving the Community Garden a little extra love! 💚

⏰ 1:00–4:00 PM
📍 Community Garden at 7th & Adams

We’ll be w**ding, deadheading, saving seeds, tidying up the beds and planting a few fall crops as we get the garden ready for the season ahead!

Whether you’re an experienced gardener or wouldn’t know a w**d from a wildflower, you are welcome here! No gardening experience is necessary and there’s no need to stay the entire time; stop by whenever you can, lend a hand, get a little dirt under your nails and enjoy some time in the garden with your neighbors.

Our environmental stewardship work is about more than growing plants. It’s about creating spaces where people can learn, contribute, connect and care for our community together.

Come pull a w**d or two with us Sunday! 🌱💛

🎨 A Summer Full of Inspiration ✨

As summer begins to wind down, we’ve been looking back at just how much fun we’ve had creating alongside our community through Third & Center’s Inspire Arts programming!

From our friends at Ohio University-Southern Bobcat Academy to our summer programs with Briggs Lawrence County Public Library, to our annual Crosswalk Painting; we painted, imagined, experimented, got a little messy and most importantly created together! 💛

One of our favorite things about art is that there is no age limit, no experience requirement and no single “right” way to create. Art gives us a chance to express ourselves, connect with one another, try something new and bring a little more color into the world around us.

And while summer may be coming to an end, the creativity certainly isn’t! 🎨

We’ll continue bringing opportunities to create, explore, and experience the arts throughout our community, so be sure to follow Third & Center to see where Inspire Arts pops up next! 🖼️👨🏽‍🎨🎭🪩

Happy Birthday to one of the brightest lights in our community; our wonderful board member, Heather Birch! ✨🥳

Heather has a way of making the world feel a little more colorful, a little more creative and a whole lot kinder!Whether she’s inspiring young artists, leading community projects, encouraging creativity or simply making someone smile; she reminds us that imagination and compassion can change lives. ❤️

As an educator, she creates the kind of classroom every child deserves. As a board member, she brings endless creativity, thoughtful ideas and the biggest heart to everything we do. We often joke that we all wish we could go back to elementary school just to have the chance to be one of Ms. Birch’s students and honestly, we mean it!

Thank you Heather for sharing your talent, your kindness and your joyful spirit with our community. Third & Center is better because of you, and we are so grateful to celebrate you today.

Our team had a busy day, and it was all made possible with the help of the Ironton High School Boys Soccer team! This amazing group of young people tackled everything from hauling lumber, moving & assembling furniture, cleaning floors at the senior center, to helping with Shadow Drawing Art Class at Briggs Lawrence County Public Library Kid’s Club! We are so grateful for their dedication to creating a positive impact in our community on & off the field! 🧡🖤⚽️
