🇺🇸 With Memorial Day approaching, we are reminded that each fold of the American flag flag holds meaning. The final fold however, the one right before the flag is cradled and handed to a grieving family, says what words cannot. We pause in silence for the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. We honor their memory, their families, and the weight of every fold that tells their story. We will never forget. 🇺🇲

The 13 Folds Explained
1st Fold: Symbolizes life and its preciousness.
2nd Fold: Signifies a belief in eternal life.
3rd Fold: Honors and remembers veterans who sacrificed a portion of their lives for the defense of the country and pursuit of world peace.
4th Fold: Represents human weakness and serves as a reminder to trust in God for guidance in times of peace and war.
5th Fold: A tribute to the United States of America.
6th Fold: Represents where our hearts lie and the pledge made to the country.
7th Fold: A tribute to the Armed Forces for protecting the nation and its flag.
8th Fold: Honors those who have faced the valley of the shadow of death to keep the country free.
9th Fold: A tribute to womanhood and mothers, honoring the love and devotion that mold the character of the nation.
10th Fold: A tribute to fathers who have given their children for the defense of the country.
11th Fold: In the Judeo-Christian tradition, this fold represents the lower portion of the seal of King David and King Solomon.
12th Fold: Represents the emblem of eternity, glorifying God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.
13th Fold: The final fold, leaving only the stars uppermost, serves as a reminder of the national motto, "In God We Trust".The Final AppearanceOnce completely folded and tucked, the flag takes the shape of a tricorne cocked hat. This is a deliberate resemblance that honors Gen. George Washington, Capt. John Paul Jones, and all who have served in the U.S. military to preserve American freedoms. 🇺🇲

🇺🇸 Sgt. Justin B. Allen Memorial Scholarship Recipient 🇺🇸

Today, we are proud to honor Ms. Rylie Myers as this year’s Sgt. Justin B. Allen Memorial Scholarship recipient.

This scholarship is awarded each year to a Dawson‑Bryant High School student who reflects the values Justin lived by — leadership, integrity, service, and heart.

Sgt. Justin B. Allen, a 75th Ranger Regiment soldier and Dawson‑Bryant graduate, was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2010. His courage, dedication, and love for his community continue to inspire us all. Through this scholarship, his legacy lives on in the next generation of young leaders.

Rylie represents the spirit of hard work and character that Justin embodied. We are honored to support her as she takes the next steps toward her future.

Please join us in congratulating Rylie Myers — and in remembering and honoring Sgt. Justin B. Allen.

Operation Enduring Freedom

Sgt. Justin Bradley Allen, 23, was a team leader assigned to D Company, 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment at Hunter Army Airfield, Ga. He was born on Aug. 7, 1986 in Ashland, Ky.

He was killed in a fire fight with enemy forces on July 18, 2010, while conducting a combat operation in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan. Allen was leading an assault on an enemy position when he was mortally wounded by enemy small arms fire.
He was on his fourth deployment. He had previously deployed twice to Iraq and once to Afghanistan.

After graduating from Dawson Bryant High School, Allen enlisted in the U.S. Army in May 2006. He completed One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Ga. as an infantryman. Then after graduating from the Basic Airborne Course, he was assigned to the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program at Fort Benning.
Following graduation from the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program, Allen was assigned to B Company, 1st Bn., 75th Ranger Reg. in October 2007 where he served as a grenadier and automatic rifleman. He was later transferred to D Co. where he served as a team leader.

In every instance he fought valiantly as he served his fellow Rangers and our great Nation.
