VFW Post 1000

VFW Post 1000 The Post was organized in 1931 and received its Charter on April 25, 1932. The original name was the Frank Fraas VFW Post 1000 of Fairmount, Missouri.

Construction for 1002 Highway 24 began in 1955 with approximately 385 members. Fraas-Fain VFW Post 1000 was charted on April 25, 1932 and was named in honor of Frank Fraas, a World War I soldier who gave his life in defense of our great nation. Truman Fain was a marine from Independence who sustained fatal combat wounds in the Pacific Theater during World War II. In 1947 his name was added to the

Post in honor of his service. The Post called several places home until 1955 when it moved into its current building. Today, Post 1000 members still carry on the important mission of serving their fellow veterans and community. We are always looking for new members to help us conduct our vital outreach. Today we bow our heads to honor the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms.This Memorial Day, pause, and remember what this day is truly about.This day is about those no longer here and the families that were left without their loved ones.
