VFW Post 1000

VFW Post 1000 The Post was organized in 1931 and received its Charter on April 25, 1932. The original name was the Frank Fraas VFW Post 1000 of Fairmount, Missouri.

Construction for 1002 Highway 24 began in 1955 with approximately 385 members. Fraas-Fain VFW Post 1000 was charted on April 25, 1932 and was named in honor of Frank Fraas, a World War I soldier who gave his life in defense of our great nation. Truman Fain was a marine from Independence who sustained fatal combat wounds in the Pacific Theater during World War II. In 1947 his name was added to the

Post in honor of his service. The Post called several places home until 1955 when it moved into its current building. Today, Post 1000 members still carry on the important mission of serving their fellow veterans and community. We are always looking for new members to help us conduct our vital outreach. Calling all Veterans!
Join us at the Kansas City VA Medical Center for a Veteran Resource Fair, hosted in partnership with the St. Louis Veteran Benefits Administration (VBA) and our VHA Service Lines at the KCVA. This event supports a nationwide effort to honor an important moment in our nation’s history while connecting Veterans with the care and benefits they’ve earned.

We’ll have multiple VA service lines on-site along with VBA representatives offering:
• One-on-one consultations
• Claim status updates
• Answers to your VA benefits questions
• Direct access to valuable Veteran resources
