I visited our home site on Appleton Street in Independence on Saturday. And what a delightful surprised to learn the volunteer group -- Church -- were all volunteering to donate their hours to homeowner partner, Sharon.😍

Homeowners must complete 350 hours for their sweat equity in building their own home. Sharon's Church community decided to jump in and "give her some help whitling down her sweat equity hours." 🥳

This was a subtle gift, but what a mission moment! A faith community demonstrating love for one member. What a truly unbelievable gift! - We are grateful for your commitment to Sharon and to Truman Habitat of Eastern Jackson County.

Truman Habitat hosted the Blue Springs Chamber's LEAD program to learn about about how nonprofits work. 🥰Participants develop skills and knowledge of our community through a series of workshops focusing on business, government, quality of life, and volunteer services.

The group "circled up" to hear Paul share about our construction and home repair programs. Bernie detailed our Master Homeowner Program, volunteering and special events. 🏠

We had a small, but MIGHTY 💪 volunteer team from our partner, Spire join us to work on our home on 1523 S. Appleton Avenue. The team worked on cutting siding to size, and adding siding to the home. Small group with a huge impact!

has been a fantastic partner with Truman Heritage Habitat for Humanity of Eastern Jackson County for years. Spire helps with our weatherization and speak regularly at our Master Homeowner Program class about energy efficiency!

At the same time, Insulation, was inside working on insulating the entire home.

We are so grateful to both the Spire volunteer team and Henges Insulation. 🥰 It takes a strong community to help build affordable homes. Together we build community. Opportunity starts with a home! 🏠

Truman Heartland Community Foundation celebrated their 31st Annual "Toast to our Towns" event last night at the Sheraton Crown Center. We are so thrilled to share Truman Habitat of Eastern Jackson County won the 2026 Heartland Service Award! 🏆🍾

The Foundation's 2026 Heartland Service award is high-profile, regional honor for outstanding generosity, leadership, and long-term commitment to improving communities across Eastern Jackson County and the greater Kansas City region.

Truman Heritage Habitat for Humanity of EJC was recognized for expanding access to affordable housing. 🥳We build community by helping to alleviate this critical issue in our region.

We are so grateful to the Truman Heartland Community Foundation for selecting our Habitat for Humanity affiliate. Thank you. We sincerely appreciate you.

The thanks really goes to our active communities and residents who help make a difference in the lives of those who need one chance to improve their lives through homeownership. To our Board members, Donors, In-kind Donors, Volunteer Crews, Faith Communities, Corporate Sponsors, ReStore shoppers and item donors, THANK YOU for helping get this important work moving across our region. 😊

This honor recognizes local organizations, businesses, or community pillars that have made a transformative difference in areas like affordable housing, education, health services, or social welfare. Recipients embody the spirit of resilience, community service, and philanthropy.

Evidence proves living in a safe, decent home improves a family's health, educational achievements, and community involvement. 🏠

With three homes under construction and two more breaking ground in 2027, we are moving forward FAST! We're on to helping new homeowners with sweat equity, educating homeowners-to-be; repairing homes and providing aging-in-place modifications for residents in aging homes, and offering incredible volunteer opportunities. 😍

We reviewed accomplishments, renewed our commitment to our core values and engaged with associates who don't get to work with one another every day. 🥰
