Today was my last official day as Coordinator of World Service Corps. I feel incredibly fortunate to have been able to serve in this way for this ministry I love for 5 years, supporting 103 volunteer assignments for volunteers from 16 countries. It’s been immensely rewarding to hear the stories of volunteers, supervisors and host site communities talk about lives transformed, hope renewed, and relational ministry made real.

WSC is nearing its 20th anniversary from when the program started in 1999. Since then, nearly 500 volunteers from 27 countries have served in 37 countries. I pray this volunteer ministry is part of the continuing story and vision for Community of Christ for many years to come as it changes and adapts as needed.

So, I’m signing off for now. But I’ll always be a WSC Advocate! And I hope you are too!

What would you do for peace? CofChrist Europe and the British Isles has been focusing on the peace of Jesus and how we can live that out. In honor of that, we made peace pendants. Thanks to Lina for sharing about her WSC experience in Canada and about her home - Germany. And thanks to Joey for sharing about how you can get involved in Europe as a volunteer on assignment or while studying abroad! @ Graceland University

Standing in front of the Korean flag and the Temple dedicated to the pursuit of peace. Staven and Rhen have returned home after a year of WSC in Seoul. Happy to reconnect with family and friends, sad to leave the friends who became like family they left. They shared a stellar presentation today with a large group. They have grown in wisdom and confidence. Blessings on their journeys ahead! (they are holding up a common Korean photo pose making a heart with their fingers)

What is your personal and congregational spiritual type (head / heart / mystic / social action)? In what ways do you feel like you encounter the Divine? How do we plan worshipful experiences to engage different spiritual types? Insightful conversation and reflections to help us think about our future preparations for worship.

What’s your CQ (aka Cultural Intelligence)? We’re talking about all the ways that culture is like an onion, an iceberg, a fishbowl, or glasses. Our culture affects how we see and interpret the world in which we live. So thankful for these conversations and these people willing to share and learn and grow. We have 4 countries of origin represented in this conversation. I think we are all improving our CQ!

Let the good times roll! Joey just picked up the Thompson’s and Kyser’s from the airport. This weekend 7 WSC volunteers are converging in the UK to attend and/or facilitate the first CofChrist Europe Peace Colloquy! Scholars, peacebuilders, and friends will come together to share and learn how we may continue to become a people of peace.

Community of Christ shares a letter that upholds the worth of all persons. Although a letter is not needed to remind us of this truth, it is affirming to share this statement uplifting our collective call to love one another and pursue peace.

The First Presidency shared a letter that upholds the church's Enduring Principles of Worth of All Persons and Unity in Diversity and serves as a reminder that we are called to love our neighbors and live together in peace.
