As we wrap up our Back to School Fair thank you's, we have one more very special shoutout to share!

Community Services League is incredibly grateful to Comcast, our Presenting Sponsor, for helping make this year’s Back-to-School Fair possible. Their support, along with the generosity of so many businesses, organizations, volunteers, and community partners, helped provide students with the supplies and shoes they needed to start the school year ready and confident.

At the end of the fair, families had the opportunity to write thank-you notes to the people and organizations who gave so much to make the event happen. We think their words say it best.

To Comcast and every person who donated, volunteered, partnered, or supported this year’s fair—thank you for showing up for our students and families! What an incredible community we get to call home.

Community Services League has so many people to thank this week, and one of them is Nebius. We are grateful for their $25,000 donation in support of CSL’s Back-to-School Fair!

This generous gift helped CSL provide local students with the supplies and resources they needed to start the school year feeling confident, prepared, and ready to learn.

Community Services League is beyond grateful for everyone who helped make our Back to School Fair happen! With your support and donations we served more than 3,000 children agency-wide with a backpack full of school supplies and a new pair of shoes.

This event was successful thanks to community volunteers, CSL staff, donors, barrel collection partners, Comcast, Cable Dahmer Arena and Oak View Group. YOUR philanthropy and support provided more than 3,000 children their back-to-school necessities.

Thank you for making this school year GREAT for our community!

- Community Services League success stories.

While experiencing homelessness with her family, Ashton Carter remained focused on creating a better future. Even during an incredibly difficult season, she held onto her goals and continued moving forward.

Through CSL’s Workforce Development program, Ashton received ongoing encouragement, career resources, résumé and interview preparation, assistance with professional attire, and opportunities to explore different career paths. With support from Jessica and the CSL team, Ashton discovered her passion for becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant.

“I chose to become a CNA because I enjoy helping people and want to care for those who need compassion and support. My own experiences have taught me how important kindness and understanding can be, especially during hard times.”

Today, Ashton has greater confidence, renewed hope, and a clear path toward her future. She is continuing her education with the goal of becoming a CNA and giving back to her community by caring for others.

Ashton’s story is a powerful reminder that difficult circumstances do not define a person’s future. Her perseverance, compassion, and commitment to achieving her goals are truly inspiring.

CSL Workforce Development helps individuals explore careers, prepare for employment, access training opportunities, and receive personalized support as they work toward long-term stability and success.

Thankful Thursday!

Earlier this summer, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints organized a cereal drive benefiting Community Services League through JustServe. Donations were collected at the Tabernacle Watch Party and Independence 4th of July celebration, resulting in more than 450 boxes of cereal for CSL’s food pantries!

When representatives delivered the cereal, they even created a fun domino display with the boxes! We’re so grateful for their generosity and for everyone who donated to help support local families.

Thank you for making a difference in our community!
