On behalf of the Huron Rotary Club, we wish the best of luck to the Huron Fire Department with their upcoming levy on the ballot Tuesday, May 5th.
As an organization guided by the principle of "Service Above Self," the Huron Rotary Club recognizes that the safety and well-being of our residents are the foundation of a thriving community. Current Rotarian and Huron Fire Chief Kevin McGraw has spoken with our group as to the fire departments’ aging infrastructure & the need to maintain essential equipment and staffing levels. Since the last fire levy passed in 1999, the fire department has provided the highest level of service to our community with the resources available. Below are reasons to support the levy as highlight by Chief McGraw’s letter to the community:
Reasons to Support the Levy:
Essential Modernization: Funding will help maintain and upgrade vital fire apparatus, emergency equipment and facilities maintenance.
Sustaining Staffing Levels: These funds ensure our department can maintain the professional staffing required for timely, life-saving emergency responses.
Fiscal Responsibility: This is the first request for "new money" for fire operations since 1999. Investing now helps replenishing inventory of equipment and avoids more costly emergency repairs or service reductions in the future.
