An update on our plans for holiday festivities in Huron.
Because we got such a late start for this year, there isn't a lot we can do. What we have decided to do is begin planning in February for the new annual tradition called Holly Days in Huron. That will allow us time to find sponsors, get organizations involved and get everything just perfect for our first holiday season.
Holly Days in Huron will kick off on Friday, November 18, 2022, and will feature lighted displays along Main Street from Bogart Road to the pier. The displays will be built by non-profit organizations and maybe some companies in the area. The power for those displays will be available via donations of power from the building owners along the route.
We are also considering a Holly Days in Huron Pageant where the yearly Holly Days Queen will be named.
The Christmas festivities will be capped off with a grand Holiday Dinner Dance on Friday, December 16, 2022, featuring the Vermilion Windjammer Big Band, The Rat Pack And More and myself bringing back my Crosby voice. There will be food, dancing and more, all in the style of the shows in "Holiday Inn" and "White Christmas."
Proceeds will go to the non-profit organizations that put up and maintain lighted displays and that helped with the pageant and show. This will be an annual event for as long as your local Bing (me) can do a show.
Want to get involved? Contact me. I am open to non-profits and to companies wishing to sponsor the events or who want to be a part.
