AUDITIONS FOR THE WORLD-PREMIERE of...
Love and Whiskey by Allyson Currin
Directed by Grechen Lynne Wingerter
Synopsis:
Based on the Depression-era diaries kept by the playwright’s grandmother, this play chronicles the journey of Lucy Mae, unmarried caretaker of her ill mother, and the last unmarried daughter of the Knott clan. As she balances the demands at home with her own unfulfilled desires and thwarted dreams, she struggles to define her independence and find her ultimately triumphant way in a world that provides few options for women without means.

WHO:
Everyone and anyone interested.
WHAT:
The open general auditions will be, MONDAY, FEB. 16 & TUESDAY, FEB. 17, 6-9 PM 6-9 PM. Each person will sign up for an individual time slot and perform a prepared monologue.
Callbacks will be WEDNESDAY, FEB. 18, 6-9 PM.
Callback list will be posted by NOON on Wednesday.
The callbacks will consist of readings from the script.

Monologue information:
Please prepare a 1-2 minute contemporary monologue. Memorized is preferable, but at least very well prepared. Any published source is acceptable, e.g., a play, screenplay, novel, or short story.
HOW: Sign-up sheet:
Come the theatre on one of the nights listed above. Pre-sign ups are encouraged, but not required. You may sign up on the sheet posted on the bulletin board outside the theatre.
Audition forms:
Forms are available on the bulletin board outside the theatre. Please take one and fill it out completely and bring it to the audition with you. They will also be available at the auditions.
Script Availability:
Scripts are available for you to read before the auditions. It is strongly recommended that you read the play before auditions.
Rehearsals:
The first rehearsal/read-thru will be Tuesday, Feb. 24th at 7:00pm.
Rehearsals are generally scheduled for Monday – Friday evenings from 6:00-10:00 pm. These times/days may fluctuate as needed.
Tech Week rehearsal hours will be longer. MANDATORY rehearsals dates are as follows: MARCH 30 – APRIL 8. Specific times TBA. Please note: This DOES INCLUDE Easter weekend.
Production dates:
Performances are APRIL 9-12, 2015.
Cast requirements:
4 Men, 3 Women. Understudies possible.
The Characters:
Lucy Mae – thirty, tall, gangly, with tiny round glasses. Awkward, quirky, with oddball charm.
Tump – Lucy Mae’s best friend, pretty, vivacious, with a streak of danger in her.
Mother – Lucy Mae’s mother, patrician, failing but doing so with style and s***k.
Fred – Lucy Mae’s older brother, runs the family farm, capable and over-worked.
Ray – Lucy Mae’s youngest brother, not all that bright, easy-going and easy to please
Luke – a little younger than Lucy Mae, good-looking, cynical, antagonistic
Joe Carrington – young town doctor, handsome, educated, the ideal catch
The Time and Place:
Oxford, North Carolina, in 1933, the waning years of the Great Depression.
The family to***co farm, once prosperous and busy, now in decline.
