Tickets are now on sale for our 20th anniversary screening of "We Are Marshall" 🍿🎥

Join us Friday, Nov. 13, at the Keith-Albee Performing Arts Center as we remember 20 years of "We Are Marshall" and honor the lives we lost on Nov. 14, 1970.

Proceeds benefit the Marshall University 75 Family Alumni Chapter's scholarship. The scholarship was generously provided by the chapter, which includes descendants and friends of those who perished in the plane crash. Recipients of the scholarship are direct descendants of those who died in the plane crash.

The Marshall University Foundation and Marshall University Alumni Association, in partnership with the 75 Families Alumni Chapter, invite you to a special 20th anniversary commemorative screening of "We Are Marshall" at the historic Keith-Albee Performing Arts Center on Friday, November 13 at 8 pm.

More than a film screening, this unforgettable evening will bring the Marshall family and Huntington community together to honor the 75 lives lost in the Nov. 14, 1970, plane crash, recognize those forever impacted and celebrate the remarkable resilience that shaped the university and the city in the years that followed.

In celebration of the film's 20th anniversary, the Keith-Albee lobby will be transformed into a special commemorative exhibition featuring authentic film memorabilia and artifacts from Marshall University Special Collections. Guests will have the opportunity to explore the history behind the film and experience the enduring legacy of a story that continues to inspire generations.

The evening will also feature an exclusive fireside chat with Marshall University President Brad D. Smith and Jamie Linden, screenwriter of "We Are Marshall," offering a unique perspective on the film, its creation and the lasting significance of sharing Marshall's story.

As a special tribute to this milestone anniversary, the first 1,000 attendees will receive an exclusive commemorative keepsake. Guests will also have the opportunity to bid on a one-of-a-kind, custom-crafted piece by BearWood Company during a special silent auction.

Celebrate 20 years of "We Are Marshall" 🎬

Join us Friday, Nov. 13, for a special screening of "We Are Marshall" as we mark 20 years since the film brought our university’s story of loss, resilience and the strength of the Marshall University family to the big screen.

This special evening honors the 75 lives we lost and the families, friends and generations of Herd fans who continue to carry their legacy forward.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 16, through the Keith-Albee Performing Arts Center. Mark your calendars and be part of this meaningful anniversary event!

The Marshall University Foundation has announced a $30,000 gift to establish the John and Linda Williams Scholarship. This scholarship is generously endowed by John and Linda Williams, who dedicated their lives to philanthropy.

On Aug. 25, 2026, Linda Williams passed away at the age of 81. Her generous spirit lives on, reflected by a lifetime of giving back to West Virginia, the place that she so proudly called home. She lived by a motto inspired by her mother, “‘Can’t’ never did anything. ‘Try’ did it all.”

The John and Linda Williams Scholarship is inspired by the power of education, experience and lending a helping hand to those who need it. Following the creation of the Marshall For All program, the Williamses felt moved by the goal of creating more accessible education for the next generation.

“We’re so blessed to be lucky enough to help people,” John Williams said. “There’s a need for every craft and there’s nothing better than helping young people pursue an education. We feel very honored to be able to contribute to that.”

The Marshall University Foundation has announced a $75,000 gift to establish the David J. Pittenger Scholarship. The scholarship is generously endowed by Dr. David J. Pittenger, professor emeritus of psychology.

“For nearly two decades, Dr. David Pittenger has served Marshall University through various administrative roles. This generous gift ensures that the positive and significant impact he had on Marshall students will continue for many more decades. We are extremely grateful for Dr. Pittenger’s service, as well as his generosity,” Chris Morrow said, dean of the College of Liberal Arts.

The Marshall University Alumni Association Board of Directors spent the day touring campus and judging this year’s participants in the Office Decorating Contest. Each office went above and beyond, putting their own spin on our theme "'80s Echoes: Come Back Curious."
