Business tips from kids who actually ran a business. ๐Ÿ‹

We asked Lemonade Day kids for their number one piece of advice. Honestly? This is better than half the business podcasts out there.

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ "Smile at every customer. Even if you're tired." (Jayden, age 10)
๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ "Location is EVERYTHING. We set up by the soccer fields on game day." (Aanya, age 11)
๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ "Don't make your lemonade too cheap. People will pay more if it's good." (Marcus, age 9)
๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ "Make your sign really big and colorful. That's your marketing." (Sofia, age 8)
๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ "Get a business partner. It's more fun and you get more ideas." (Elijah, age 12)
๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ "Write everything down. I forgot to track my costs the first time." (Layla, age 10)

Six kids. Six lessons most adults are still learning.

Your kid could be dropping wisdom like this by the end of June. The My Lemonade Day app walks them through all of it: pricing, location, branding, tracking costs, the works.

A question we love asking Lemonade Day kids: "What are you saving for?" ๐Ÿ’›

Their answers are a window into how kids think about the future when they're holding their own money for the first time:

๐ŸŽฎ "A Nintendo Switch. I've been saving since Christmas."
๐Ÿšฒ "A new bike. Mine has rust on the chain."
๐Ÿ“ท "A camera. I want to make YouTube videos about my dog."
๐ŸŽธ "Guitar lessons. My mom said I have to pay for half."
๐ŸŽจ "Art class at the community center. They have real easels."
๐Ÿ‘Ÿ "The shoes everyone has. My parents won't buy them."
๐Ÿ–๏ธ "The beach trip with my grandma in August."

Last year, Lemonade Day kids saved a combined **$5.2 million** of what they earned. Every dollar of that was tucked away by the kid who earned it - toward a goal they picked.

This is the save part of Save, Spend, Share. And here's what makes it powerful: most of these kids are saving for the first time in their lives - for something they want, with money that's *theirs*, on a timeline they control.

That's not a financial literacy worksheet. That's a financial identity forming. ๐Ÿ‹

What would YOUR kid save for? Tell us in the comments ๐Ÿ‘‡

Hey June families - this one's for you. ๐Ÿ“…๐Ÿ‹

If your city's Lemonade Day is in June (and a lot are), this is the week the prep window gets real.

Here's what the data says about the kids who knock it out of the park:

๐Ÿ“ˆ Kids who complete the curriculum lessons earn **2X more** than kids who wing it
๐Ÿ—“๏ธ Kids who plan their stand 2+ weeks out earn more than kids who plan the night before
๐Ÿค Kids who recruit a partner (sibling, cousin, neighbor friend) report more confidence and more fun
๐Ÿ’ก Kids who pick their cause BEFORE opening day donate more and feel prouder doing it

The app gives your kid everything they need. Lessons. Stand planning. Pricing help. Marketing tips. Save/Spend/Share tracking. It's free, it's self-paced, and most kids fly through the lessons in a few sittings if they're into it.

Two more weekends. That's your window.

Don't wait until the night before. The best stands always - *always* - belong to the kids who got excited early and built something they were proud of.

Long weekend = stand weekend. โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ‹

We woke up Tuesday to a flood of stand photos in our DMs and tags - corner stands, driveway stands, park stands, "I set up next to my dad's garage sale" stands. Kids who'd been waiting all spring for their city's Lemonade Day, and kids who just decided Saturday morning that they were going to try.

A few that stopped us in our tracks:

๐Ÿ‹ A 7-year-old in Texas who sold out twice and had to make a "BACK IN 30 MIN - RESTOCKING" sign
๐Ÿ‹ Sisters in Indiana running competing stands on opposite ends of the same block (one undercut the other by 25ยข - entrepreneurship is alive and well)
๐Ÿ‹ A kid in Puerto Rico whose first customer was the mail carrier and last customer was also the mail carrier
๐Ÿ‹ A 10-year-old in Alberta who set up a "premium" cup option with a paper straw and a lemon wedge for an extra dollar - and people bought it

This is the thing about Memorial Day weekend: more neighbors home, more visitors in town, more porches full of people. And the kids show up for it.

If your kid ran a stand this weekend - tag us. We want to see. ๐Ÿ’›

Today, we remember the men and women who gave everything in service to this country.

At Lemonade Day, we talk a lot about three values: Save. Spend. Share.

The share part is the one that stretches kids the most. The idea that what you earn isn't just yours - that part of it belongs to a cause bigger than you, a community you're part of, a country you call home.

Today is the deepest expression of that value. People who gave their lives so that others could live theirs.

To the families who carry that loss with you - thank you. We honor them today, and we honor you. ๐Ÿ’›

Long weekend coming up. โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ‹

Which means: more neighbors home. More walkers on the sidewalk. More cars in driveways. More aunts and uncles in town for the weekend.

In other words: peak stand conditions.

If your kid is running a Lemonade Day stand this weekend, here's your final-week checklist:

โœ… Ice. Then more ice. Then backup ice.
โœ… A sign you can read from across the street
โœ… A price that's actually fair (not 25 cents - trust us)
โœ… Change for a $20
โœ… A practiced "hi, would you like some lemonade?"
โœ… Sunscreen for the entrepreneur ๐Ÿงด

And if you're not running a stand this weekend - keep an eye out for one. If you see a kid behind a folding table with a hand-drawn sign, stop. Buy a cup. Tip well. Tell them you're impressed.

Those small moments - being treated like a real business by a real customer - are how confidence gets built. ๐Ÿ’›

Long weekends were made for this.

The money is the headline. The real takeaways are quieter. ๐Ÿ’›

We surveyed Lemonade Day kids after their first stand. Here's what they actually walked away with - in their own words:

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ "I learned I'm not as shy as I thought I was."
๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ "I figured out how to talk to grown-ups I don't know."
๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ "I made a mistake and then I fixed it. I didn't give up."
๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ "My partner and I argued about the sign. We figured it out."
๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ "I felt proud of myself for the first time in a really long time."

That last one stayed with us all week. ๐Ÿ’›

Average profit per stand last year: $271. Average dollars saved: $125. Average dollars donated: $75.

But the things that compound for life - courage, voice, resilience, partnership, self-belief - those are the real ROI.

This is why we say "preparing youth for life." It's not a tagline. It's literally what's happening when a kid steps behind their first stand. ๐Ÿ‹

Heads up, parents: Lemonade Day isn't over. ๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ‹

A common misconception - Lemonade Day is "one day." It's not. Each city sets its own date, and a LOT of cities are running events in late May and June. (But kids are welcome run a stand anytime - not just on a dedicated Lemonade Day)

If your kid hasn't done a stand yet, you still have a window.

Here's the thing about the late-season stands:

โœ… The app gives kids weeks to plan (kids who finish the lessons earn 2X more)
โœ… Late May = peak weather, peak foot traffic
โœ… Long weekends mean more people out and about
โœ… Less competition than peak weekends โ€” your kid stands out
โœ… Time to design the stand properly (this is the kids' favorite part)

Two minutes to register. Free curriculum. Real business. A weekend they'll remember forever.

Don't write off 2026 just because you missed the early weekends. The best stand for your kid might still be ahead. ๐Ÿ’›

A question we love asking Lemonade Day kids: "Where did you share your money?" ๐Ÿ’›

The answers tell you everything about how kids see the world:

๐Ÿพ "The animal shelter. Because I love dogs and they need help."
๐Ÿ“š "My school library. We don't have enough new books."
๐Ÿฅช "The food bank. My teacher said some kids don't have lunch."
๐Ÿฅ "The children's hospital. My cousin was sick."
๐ŸŒณ "The park near our house. The benches are broken."

Last year, Lemonade Day kids donated $3.1M to charity. Every dollar of that was chosen by the kid who earned it. ๐Ÿ‹

We didn't tell them where to give. We told them *to* give. They picked the cause.

This is the share part of Save, Spend, Share. And honestly? It's our favorite part of the whole program.

Because when a kid earns money and decides - on their own - to give some of it away to a cause they care about, you're not just raising an entrepreneur.

You're raising a citizen. ๐Ÿ’›

There's a moment in every Lemonade Day that doesn't get caught on camera. ๐Ÿ’›

It's not the first sale. It's not the profit count at the end of the day.

It's the moment - somewhere between the third customer and the fourth - when a kid stops looking at their parent for reassurance. When they start handing back change without checking the math twice. When they answer "how much is a cup?" before anyone whispers the price to them.

That's the moment it clicks.

That they can do this.

That this is real.

That they are actually running a business.

We watched it happen thousands of times this past weekend.

Every one of those kids walked away a little different than they walked in. ๐Ÿ‹

To the parents who held the sign, drove for the lemons, and stepped back at exactly the right time - we see you too. ๐Ÿ’›
