Two wrongs don't make things right… it only makes things worse. Instead of returning evil for evil, overcome evil with good for this is what is pleasing to God. When someone does us wrong, it's easy to strike back in the same manner, but it takes strength to remain calm and hold our peace. We have to trust God's promise to fight for us and remind ourselves that we are held accountable for our actions, not theirs. The battle is not ours, it belongs to the Lord.

Seventy years ago today, the Montgomery Bus Boycott began. it was a courageous and disciplined act of nonviolent resistance that awakened a nation.

Under the leadership of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., thousands chose love, truth, and collective action over fear and injustice. Their sacrifice reshaped the moral landscape of our country and moved us closer to the Beloved Community.

As we honor 70 years of courageous nonviolent resistance, may we continue the work of confronting injustice with compassion, transforming systems through love, and choosing nonviolence as a way of life.
