🌎 AMIGOS Is Recruiting for Our On-Call Team! Support Youth Programs Across Latin America for Summer 2026:
AMIGOS operates a 24/7 On-Call System while our in-person youth programs are running across Latin America. This system ensures that volunteers, families, and staff have immediate access to expert guidance for any health or safety concern that arises.
We're seeking licensed medical professionals to join our volunteer Medical On-Call Team, a critical part of our health and safety infrastructure. If you’re passionate about global health, youth development, and cross-cultural service, this is a meaningful way to make an impact!
📌 Role Overview
Medical On-Call Providers offer real-time medical consultation to our staff teams, volunteers, and, when necessary, families. Medical issues make up a large portion of our calls, and your expertise helps ensure high-quality, timely, and culturally informed decision-making.
You may advise on:
• Treatment protocols
• Medication approvals
• Lab tests or imaging
• Emergency care coordination
• Hospitalization or surgical recommendations
🩺 Key Responsibilities
As part of the Medical On-Call Team, you will:
• Provide medical consultation during two weeklong 24/7 summer call rotations
• Serve as backup for other providers as needed
• Help explain or coordinate AMIGOS protocols with local physicians (translation support provided)
• Collaborate with the AMIGOS Medical Director and the Senior Director of Health & Safety
• Participate in a two-hour spring onboarding/training
✅ Minimum Qualifications
• Valid medical license in any U.S. state/territory
• Ability to secure malpractice coverage for volunteer service
• Physicians: Board Certified (Family Med, Internal Med, Pediatrics, or Emergency Med)
• APNs/PAs: At least 5 years of clinical experience in the same specialties
✨ Preferred Qualifications
• Experience or subspecialty in Infectious Disease, Adolescent Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine
• Knowledge of adolescent health and tropical diseases
• Familiarity with Latin American health systems and culture
• Spanish proficiency
• Interest in global service, public health, or AMIGOS programs
