Meet our littlest readers! 📚✨

Did you know that Clemente Martinez Elementary is the only school where Reading Roundup serves kindergarteners and first-graders? Many of these children receive their very first storybooks through our book distributions — the first books they get to take home and call their own.

Many thanks to all the volunteers who helped sort, pack, deliver, and distribute books to Clemente Martinez students. Events like this require time, effort, and resources, but the joy on these children’s faces — and the lasting impact that books can have on their lives — are truly priceless.

As another school year comes to a close and summer begins for Houston public school students, we’re so grateful for everyone who joined us in supporting literacy, learning, and community this year.

Thank you to our volunteers, supporters, educators, and families who helped make Reading Round Up so special. We’re already looking forward to welcoming everyone back for the 2026–2027 school year.

Reading Roundup was a success 📚☀️💚

Our amazing volunteers spent the day at Cunningham Elementary distributing summer reading packets, books, and Reading Roundup t-shirts to first and second grade students to help keep the joy of reading going all summer long.

A huge thank you to everyone who showed up to make a difference for these students and their families.

Every book placed in a child’s hands helps build confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning. ✨

What a wonderful Ladies For Literacy Book Club meeting today featuring H.W. Brands discussing his newest book, American Patriarch.

With 2026 marking the 250th anniversary of the United States, today’s conversation felt especially timely as we reflected on the people, leadership, and history that helped shape our nation.

📚✨ Reading really is a superpower ✨📚

Today marked the last day of Reading Round Up at Bear Creek Elementary, and what a special way to celebrate a summer full of learning and imagination.

The students received new “Reading Is My Super Power” t-shirts along with summer book packets generously provided by the Barbara Bush Ladies for Literacy Guild.

Seeing the excitement on their faces reminds us how powerful books can be in shaping confidence, curiosity, and opportunity for young readers.

Ladies for Literacy was proud to support the ICON Luncheon at the Omni Hotel in partnership with the Houston Symphony League and the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation—bringing our community together to champion literacy and expand opportunity for children across Houston.
