The NCAA's proposed rule changes could let prominent athletes generate major endorsement money. But for most athletes, there won't likely be much of a windfall. Aspiring student athletes across the nation rejoiced last month when news broke that the NCAA would soon allow athletes to make money from their own names and talent. This means the future Sam Ehlingers of the world β of which there are few β might have the chance to land advertising deals, potentially changing forever what it means to be a student athlete. In Texas, a state with a large college sports market and fanatical fans, the potential for dealmaking could be vast, marketing experts said.
