💔🐾 MEET MARMALADE! 🧡

For the past couple of weeks, we’ve been trying to rescue this sweet baby from the streets. Today, thanks to a wonderful BARC volunteer who picked her up and brought her to the shelter, Marmalade is finally SAFE! ❤️

At just FOUR MONTHS OLD, she has already endured so much suffering. She has severe mange, and her skin is cracked, raw, and bleeding. This poor baby has spent much of her short life miserable and uncomfortable.

She should be playing with toys, getting belly rubs, and enjoying being a puppy. Instead, she’s been struggling to survive.

But today, everything changes! 🧡

Marmalade has a long road to recovery. She needs veterinary care, medication, treatment for her skin, good nutrition, and lots of love.

💔🐾 MEET MARMALADE — JUST FOUR MONTHS OLD AND ALREADY SUFFERING SO MUCH. 🧡

For the past couple of weeks, we have been trying to get this sweet baby off the streets. Today, we finally got her! ❤️

A wonderful BARC volunteer was able to pick her up and bring her to BARC, where we were able to get her into our rescue today.

We named her Marmalade. 🧡

At just four months old, this poor little girl has severe mange. Her skin is cracked, raw, and bleeding. Just imagine how miserable she must be, constantly itching and hurting, with no way to get relief.

She’s only a baby. She should be playing with toys, getting belly rubs, and enjoying being a puppy. Instead, she has spent much of her short life suffering on the streets.

But today, Marmalade’s life changes. ❤️

No more struggling to survive. No more being overlooked. She is safe now, and we are going to do everything we can to get her healthy.

Marmalade has a long road of healing ahead of her. She will need veterinary care, treatment for her mange, medication, good nutrition, and lots of love.

We are asking for donations to help cover her medical expenses. We have so many dogs in our care, and taking on another medical case is a financial commitment, but how could we turn our backs on this little girl after trying so hard to get her to safety?

🐾 FIVE PUPPIES, FIVE SURGERIES, AND ONE BIG TRIP TO PENNSYLVANIA! 🐾❤️

Meet Ink, Coal, Slate, Obsidian, and Charcoal! 🖤

These five adorable puppies are all getting spayed and neutered TODAY! It’s another big step toward their happily ever after!

Next week, all five will be heading to Pennsylvania, where they’ll have the opportunity to find their forever families! 🏡❤️

But first, we need a little help!

💰 Our goal is to raise $1,200 to cover their veterinary expenses.

That’s just $240 per puppy!

We’ve already invested so much into getting these babies healthy, vaccinated, and ready for their next chapter. Getting five puppies through surgery at once is a big expense for our rescue, and we’re hoping our amazing supporters can help us cover it.

💔 LOOK AT HIS FACE. REALLY LOOK AT HIM. 💔

His name is Koa. And if you look into those big, frightened eyes, you can almost feel how scared and confused he is.

He doesn’t understand why the people he loved moved away and left him behind like a piece of unwanted trash. He doesn’t understand why he’s sitting in a shelter surrounded by barking dogs and strangers. He doesn’t understand what he did wrong.

And the heartbreaking truth is, he didn’t do anything wrong.

Koa isn’t a cute, fluffy little puppy. He’s a big black dog with a blocky head and a face that looks absolutely terrified. He’s the kind of dog people scroll right past. The kind of dog who gets overlooked because he doesn’t have the appearance that makes people immediately fall in love.

But what if I told you that underneath that frightened face is an almost perfect dog?

🐾 He’s good with other dogs.

🐱 He’s good with cats. He even shared a water bowl with the neighbor’s cats!

❤️ He loves belly rubs.

🐾 He walks beautifully on a leash.

🏡 He appears to be housebroken and won’t even potty in his kennel.

💕 Once he trusts you, he wants nothing more than to be close to you.

Read that again. This dog has everything people say they’re looking for in a companion.

And yet he’s sitting in a shelter, scared out of his mind, because the people who were supposed to love him abandoned him.

When Koa first arrived at Harris County, he was so frightened that he growled and didn’t want anyone near him. Some people would have looked at that behavior and decided he was a bad dog.

But one volunteer looked beyond his fear.

She saw something in those eyes. She kept showing up for him, spending time with him multiple times a day, patiently earning his trust.

And little by little, Koa began to show her who he really was.

Not an aggressive dog. Not a bad dog.

Just a heartbroken dog who needed someone to make him feel safe again.

Because of his fear in the shelter, Koa has been designated rescue-only. That makes his chances even smaller.

And that’s what breaks my heart.

How many dogs like Koa never get that chance? How many are judged by their appearance, their size, their breed, or the way they react when they’re terrified?

We ask dogs to trust us, to love us unconditionally, to forgive us for things they never should have experienced.

And somehow, they do.

Koa has already shown that he’s capable of trusting again. He’s shown that he’s gentle, affectionate, and loving when someone takes the time to know him.

Now he needs someone to see the dog behind those frightened eyes.

Koa is at Harris County Pets in Houston, Texas. He needs a committed foster and a rescue willing to give him a chance. A $250 donation has been offered toward his care.

Please don’t scroll past him because he isn’t cute and fluffy.

Please don’t mistake fear for aggression.

And please don’t let the expression on his face be the last thing the world remembers about him.

His name means warrior. But this sweet boy shouldn’t have to fight so hard just to be loved. 💔🐾
