The Episcopal Parish of St. Clement - Honolulu is celebrating Honolulu Pride with two free community events combining music, faith, inclusion and aloha.
On Sunday, October 11 at 6 p.m., St. Clement will host “Rainbow Mele: Sing-along with Miss Tara Way ” The evening will feature drag performer Miss Tara Way leading a lively audience sing-along through the colors of the Pride flag. Songs include “I’m Coming Out,” “Born This Way,” “This Is Me,” “Walking on Sunshine,” “We Are Family,” “Brave,” “I Will Survive” and “Don’t Stop Believin’.”
Then, on Tuesday, October 13 at 6 p.m., St. Clement will host its annual Interfaith Pride Eucharist, followed by a community potluck. The service celebrates LGBTQ+ people and allies while also recognizing that many q***r people have experienced rejection or hurt from religious communities. The liturgy emphasizes love, belonging, justice, and the dignity of every human being.
“We want Honolulu’s LGBTQ+ community to hear a very clear message from people of faith: you are loved, you are celebrated, and you are welcome here,” said The Reverend Brian G. Rallison, XIV Rector of St. Clement. “Pride should have some joy in it, too. So on Sunday we’re going to sing, laugh, and celebrate together, and on Tuesday we’ll gather around God’s table and proclaim that God is love.”
Both events are open to the public.
