The occupying US Army leases thousands of acres of “state-owned” lands on O’ahu for training purposes. In 1964, the Army paid a nominal fee of $1 for 65 years for ‘āina at Poamoho (Wahiawā), Mākua, and Kahuku. These unjust leases expire in 2029, but the Army had already begun its Training Lands Retention Program, and is seeking to negotiate new leases to keep these lands under military control. The Army will soon begin preparing its Environmental Impact Statement for possible land retention. The public has until September 1 to submit comments. This is our opportunity to tell the Army what kinds of impacts they should address in their EIS— think environmental, social, cultural, and political. And remember, most of these lands are the Crown and Government Lands of the Hawaiian Kingdom, and they are held in trust by the state for Native Hawaiians and the general public. How does the ongoing occupation and desecration of ‘āina serve the interests of the people of Hawai’i? It doesn’t. Now is the time to imagine demilitarized futures of Hawai’i and to demand from US Empire.

You can read the Army’s Notice of Intent and submit written comments at the link in our bio.

And, if can, please join us in attending the Army’s public meetings at Leilehua Golf Course on August 10 & 11 at 6pm.

Native Hawaiians pay the price of paradise. Can you pay $44 this 4/4 to lighten the load?

The Hawai’i People’s Fund Giving Project is fundraising to support grassroots movements throughout Hawai’i. Supporting these organizations can prevent more Hawaiians from paying the ultimate price: their connection to their homeland. of

Resource Generation Hawai'i is looking for more members!

Community organizers in Oahu and Ka Pae ʻĀina Hawaiʻi are looking for young people with access to wealth and class privilege to participate in transformative leadership development programming. Resource Generation organizes people 18 to 35 years old with access to wealth and class privilege in the U.S. to become transformative leaders working towards the equitable distribution of wealth, land, and power.

Can you help us connect with people in your networks who are: (1) 18-35 years old; (2) identify as progressive, left, or open to learning; and (3) fall in the top 10% of wealth or income distribution.

In case it helps support thinking through your personal networks, we have included some categories below to help with brainstorming possible contacts. Please share as many contacts as you are able.

Will you help Resource Generation find the foundational membership we need to start a social justice solidarity formation of young people with access to wealth and class privilege in Hawai’i?

Help us find our Resource Generation Hawai'i !

☀️Wealthy or privileged ish folks, when's the last time you've shared about your class background with a colleague, friend, activist community, neighbor, with someone who has access to wealth and power?
🌈Telling the truth about wealth and our class backgrounds helps expose how deeply unjust and racist the U.S. economic system is and makes our collective movements for economic and racial justice stronger.

Action Alert! Join the convoy to demand the cancellation of Rimpac war games, this Sunday, August 16th! Meet at 12pm at Sand Island METC Parking lot. We will go from Sand Island to Pearl Harbor to make the military hear our demands and then to Fort Derussy where partner nation troops are staying at the Hale Koa hotel.

After the multiple days of triple digit case numbers and the order prohibiting large gatherings, it’s clear that a several thousand person military gathering is not safe for the public health. Bringing thousands of troops from 10 countries to Hawaii when we are attempting to stop the outbreak is not safe and must be stopped.

Rimpac will not only put the community at risk of the virus, but s*x trafficking always increases with Rimpac. In addition the military will be bombing and polluting Hawaiian waters which directly affects the health and safety of our community.

Bombs and bullets cannot fight this virus, let’s come together and demand that the military cancel Rimpac and put the community first instead of their rampant warmongering! Cancel Rimpac, now and forever!

... Repost - see their post for convoy route details!

Have you signed our petition to yet? We are doing one more big push before we deliver our 11,000+ signatures to Governor Ige.

As our COVID-19 cases reach record highs, ships from around the world are heading to Hawaiʻi for RIMPAC. It seems unlikely that RIMPAC will be cancelled, but we need to make our voices heard. Already, we are seeing the dangers mounting. Two Philippines sailors tested positive for coronavirus last week, and the vessel they were stationed on set sail for Hawaiʻi this morning. Last week, 8 Thai soldiers tested positive immediately after returning home from the Lightning Forge exercise held on Oʻahu. Though the RIMPAC exercises will be limited to an at-sea-only event, the military has not done enough to answer community concerns. How many logisitical support personnel will come on land? What happens if an outbreak occurs on one of the ships at sea? Will US military personnel be allowed to take liberty days where they can travel around Hawaiʻi before or after the exercises? We demand an end to RIMPAC, now and forever. Genuine security during a pandemic means investing in the health of our communities, not in war.
