Society of St. Andrew-Alabama Join us to harvest & share healthy food, reduce waste, & in Alabama!

We connect farmers and growers who have excess or unmarketable produce with volunteer gleaners who pick, gather, or dig the fruits and vegetables. We give the gleaned produce free of charge to hunger-relief agencies, in quantities they can serve or distribute quickly and without waste.

Alabama had a beautiful sunrise this morning and it got me thinking back to this beautiful sunrise we had a couple months ago while in the fields gleaning okra 😍 There is something healing about being in the field doing for others, the view is the cherry on top.

True Advent Character this Season!
For each day of Advent, the Society of St. Andrew devotional offers scripture, thoughtful reflections, and inspiring prayers. Written by faithful voices from across the country, these devotions bring familiar figures like Mary and John the Baptist together with faith ancestors like Esther and Habakkuk.

Complete with Sunday hymn reflections, lectionary alignment, and a vision for feeding hungry neighbors, this daily guide invites you to kindle small, powerful flames of faith that challenge the turmoil around us.

What’s Inside
Biblical Depth: Walk alongside familiar figures like Mary and John the Baptist, as well as ancestors like Esther and Habakkuk.

Sunday Hymns & Lectionary Alignment: Anchored by reflections on beloved hymns and aligned with both the Revised Common Lectionary and Narrative Lectionary readings.

Faith in Action: Written by prayerful contributors, each entry connects God’s word with God’s work in the world.

Join us for the first annual Black Belt Crop Drop! The Society of St. Andrew has partnered with Tuskegee University's Black Belt Marketing & Innovation Center for a community event!

Come check out local resources at the BBMIC open house and pick up a FREE box of fresh produce, brought to you by the Society of St. Andrew-Alabama, Southeast Produce Council, Inc., and Pratt Industries. The Deep South Food Alliance and the Alabama Black Belt Food Systems Alliance have partnered to provide other food items as well.

Our friends at Selma Roots and iServe Gospel Tabernacle COGIC-Selma are coming out to help, but we need more volunteers! We will pack boxes inside the BBMIC on Friday, November 13th, then distribute the boxes to community members Saturday, November 14th.

You DO NOT need to volunteer in order to receive a food box. Just be at the BBMIC (directly across from Westwood Baptist Church) on Saturday between 9 am and Noon. First come, first served. See less

Luke 6:9 Andrew said, “There is a boy here who has 5 loaves and 2 fish.” Andrew noticed resources for sharing with the hungry. Does your community have a farmers market that could be “gleaned” to feed hungry neighbors? Explore the idea with help from SoSA. Contact: [email protected]
