School just ended, and we're already thinking about back to school! 📚🎒

It may seem a little early, but we're already preparing for our annual Back to School Shopping Event for youth in foster care.

Last year, one of the youth who participated shared on his thank-you note that the experience made him feel "responsible and happy." Those simple words perfectly capture why this event is so important.

With the help of our generous supporters, youth receive gift cards to shop for their own school clothes and essentials. Not only do they get what they need for a successful school year, but they also gain confidence, independence, and the opportunity to practice important life skills like budgeting and decision-making.

Every donation helps create moments like these and ensures that more youth can start the school year feeling prepared, empowered, and excited for what's ahead.

To the Class of 2026 — Congratulations! 🎓

We are so proud of every young person in foster care who is walking across the stage this year. Your journey has not always been easy, but you showed up, you pushed through, and you did it! Your strength and perseverance inspire everyone around you, and this moment is yours.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredibly talented photographers, Joshua Williams and Stephanie Fisher, for volunteering their time and talent to capture this milestone. These portraits are more than just photos, they are a celebration of how far our graduates have come and a reminder that their story is one worth telling.

To our graduates: the road ahead is full of opportunity. Hold your head high, keep moving forward, and never forget — you are seen, you are valued, and you are supported. The world is waiting for everything you have to offer.

April is Volunteer Appreciation Month, and before the month ends, we want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible people who keep our youth’s hopes and wishes at the center of everything we do.

Because of you, birthdays, holidays, and special moments are filled with joy. These are subtle reminders to the children we serve that they are seen, valued, and supported. These moments matter more than words can express, and you help make them possible every single day.

We are so grateful for each of you and honored to work alongside you in bringing smiles to our kids’ faces.

Online ordering for Heroes at Home is quickly coming to a close. Don’t miss your opportunity to stay at home and let the fundraiser come to you. The last day to order is Sunday, April 26th and the food will be delivered to you on Thursday May 7th.

This year we have assembled some of our favorite dishes from places near our office in Homewood. Each order will be enough for 4-5 people.

Option 1 — Chicken & Sausage Jambalaya with homemade andouille sausage, bell peppers & green onions from Homewood Gourmet.
Option 2 — Beef Lasagna with fresh marinara, ricotta & mozzarella cheese from Homewood Gourmet.
Option 3 — Spinach & Feta Savory Tart made with fresh eggs, sautéed spinach, green onions, feta, and parmesan from Ashley Mac’s.

Every Meal Includes:
Baby Blue Salad Baby greens with honey-balsamic vinaigrette, blue cheese, spicy pecans, oranges & strawberries from Homewood Gourmet.

Sour Cream Biscuits from Ashley Mac’s

Chocolate Chip Frozen Dough Semi-sweet chocolate chips, sea salt from Cookie Fix

And your choice of beverage — Red Wine, White Wine, Sweet Tea, or Unsweet Tea.

The salad will come deconstructed so that it will not wilt and the cookies will be ready for you to pop in the oven and serve hot.

Heroes at Home meals are great to share with your family or with someone that could just use a meal right now. Every meal goes to support the programming of Heart Gallery.

You read that correctly. Just pick your favorite person (in the Birmingham area), place the order, and on May 7th a Heart Gallery volunteer shows up on their porch with dinner for 4. 🚪🍱 It's the best "thinking of you" that's ever existed.

Meals are $150 and feed a family of 4.
