The Donkey Mill Art Center is a community art center serving West Hawaii residents and visitors at our facility in Holualoa. We also provide art education and experiences in local schools, and throughout our community. We offer classes, workshops, and events for artists of all levels, and present world-class art and culture exhibits year round. Our gift shop provides local artists with a venue to sell their work, and enables art lovers to support the work of local makers.

A few weeks ago members, friends, families, staff, teaching artists, and supporters gathered for an afternoon of food, art, talk story, and connection. Tickets are on sale now for Cool Fusion: Festival of 1000 Bowls on Saturday, September 26! This year, we're bringing back the original hiyashi somen noodle recipe alongside a fresh lineup of thoughtfully curated experiences, including live music and performances, ceramic demonstrations, interactive art activities, and the opportunity to explore and purchase 1,000 unique, hand-thrown ceramic bowls.

Revisiting Kealakekua Bay, Reworking the Captain Cook Monument brings together eight artists and collectives to imagine new possibilities for the monument at Kaʻawaloa on the shore of Kealakekua Bay. Through this endeavor, artworks aim to revisit an ancestral place and rework a historic monument; honor stories of intergenerational resistance in Hawaiʻi; work through legacies of scientific colonialism in the Pacific; and activate pathways toward remediated futures already in the making.
