We received the sweetest donation this week! A six year old chose to donate birthday boxes to our pantry! 🎉

Each box is a kit that includes all the ingredients and candles for a homemade birthday cake🎂

This thoughtful donation immediately went home with several children who we had listed in our SmartChoice Food Pantry Software!

If you saw our earlier post today, wait until you hear this! For a second time today, we have doubles!
Both ladies pictured share the same beautiful name…Malaika! Both Malaikas came to volunteer with us for the first time today. Neither has ever met another person with the same name! This afternoon, they are sitting side by side checking in community members for the food pantry.

Helping Hands Development and Communications Coordinator, Stephanie, and Social Services professional, Camillie's matching outfits were a fun coincidence today!

But the real highlight happened when we connected Camille's 94-year-old client with our food pantry.

📢On April 28th we sent out an emergency call for food donations when our pantry experienced a critical shortage. Our goal was to collect 30,000 pounds of food in 30 days.

🍿Did we come close?

Helping Hands received...
2,952 pounds of food from individuals
2,465 pounds of food from area churches
1,061 pounds of food from area businesses
That was 6,478 pounds of food
➕ ...PLUS...
We received 55,958 pounds of food from partners at Food Lion, Lowe's, Sheetz, Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC, Panera Bread, A Simple Gesture GSO/HP/Guilford County, Out of the Garden Project, House of Prayer, and Awaken Ministries of NC.

In addition to the generous food donations, we received over $25,000 to purchase desperately needed food for our pantry.

What amazing supporters we have! Our community pulled together in a time of great need. Thank you to each and every one of you who helped us provide foods of all kinds to our community members! YOU ARE THE BEST🎉

We love to have all the colors of the rainbow in our fruits and vegetables to offer to community members who have been waiting in line to choose the foods they like best.

Help us send warm wishes and congratulations to Aaron! Many of you will recognize Aaron as our Smart Choice Coordinator.

Aaron volunteered with us in 2024 and then returned as a part time employee to oversee the implementation of SmartChoice Food Pantry Software in our pantry last year.

We are cheering Aaron on as he prepares to attend medical school and pursue a career in the medical field! We know great things are ahead!
