đź’ś A huge thank you to Alexandra Hatch, one of our incredible community liaisons, for helping coordinate a generous donation of 80 snack bags for the children and families we serve at She Believes In Me!

These snack bags were thoughtfully donated and assembled by high school students from various congregations of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints . Their kindness, compassion, and willingness to give back are a beautiful reminder of the power of community and service.

For many of the children and families we support, small acts of care can make a meaningful difference. Something as simple as a snack bag can help a child feel seen, supported, and remembered.

Rainy days off from school can feel long and isolating for many of the vulnerable children we serve. That’s why moments of connection, creativity, and care matter so much. 💜

Yesterday, our Family Support Center was filled with laughter, art, imagination, and warm meals as we hosted a special creativity mini session for our children. From hands-on activities to simply sharing time together indoors on a rainy day, the afternoon created a safe and comforting space where children could feel supported, engaged, and encouraged.

Keeping children positively occupied during school breaks is about so much more than staying busy. It helps build confidence, strengthen social connection, reduce stress, and remind children that they are cared for by a community that believes in them.

We are grateful to everyone who helps make these moments possible and gives our children a place where they can learn, create, eat a warm meal, and simply enjoy being kids. đź’ś

“What brought me to She Believes In Me was my heart for serving… especially children who are underserved.
I saw the passion Renee had for helping the children at Hutchison Elementary, and I knew there was a real need in that community. When SBIM began hosting monthly empowerment programs, I saw it as another opportunity to make a difference.
Then COVID hit, and the needs grew even greater.
I began packaging and delivering food to families. Today, I continue supporting in different ways, from picking up monthly diaper donations to helping with campaigns and community needs. For several years, I also had the joy of driving children to and from summer camp.
I love that SBIM supports both children and their families. I don’t think there is anything better to invest in than the life of a child… and that is what keeps me coming back.”
Barb’s journey is a beautiful reminder that impact can take many forms over time. From mentoring, to delivering essentials, to supporting behind the scenes, her commitment has touched so many lives in our community.

During our “I’m Giving” Teen Leadership session, our teens explored what it means to give, not just through actions, but through support, presence, and connection.

Through conversations, shared moments, and time spent together, they continue to build confidence in who they are and the role they can play in supporting others.

These are the spaces where teens feel comfortable, connected, and reminded that they belong. đź’ś

A small plant. A quiet moment. A powerful lesson. 🌱💜

During our “She’s Giving” event, each child planted a mini succulent, something simple, but deeply meaningful.

As they filled their pots, pressed the soil, and carefully watered their plants, they weren’t just completing an activity. They were learning what it means to care for something beyond themselves.

To nurture.
To be patient.
To give attention and love so something can grow.

These moments matter.

Giving is not only about choosing a gift. It is also about the everyday acts of care that help people and things grow.

Just like their plants, with the right support, encouragement, and consistency, they are growing too. đź’ś

“I am so proud to partner with this amazing organization.” 💜
Elysa Hersch Birman first connected with Renee Gorman through a Rotary Club of Herndon-Reston bike-a-thon, inviting students to participate. That moment led her to learn more about She Believes In Me and quickly see the impact this work has on our community.
As Community Service Chair of the Rotary Club of Herndon-Reston, she is always looking for meaningful ways to support youth. What started as a simple connection grew into a strong and lasting partnership.
Now in their third year, Rotary sponsors monthly life skills activities, helping create consistent opportunities for children to learn, grow, and feel supported.
Elysa shares that one of the most meaningful parts is planning activities and spending time volunteering alongside fellow Rotarians, like Mary Williams and other members of the community.

Today, volunteers from Mariner Wealth Advisors came together to assemble 150 Summer Comfort Bags for the children we serve. đź’ś

Each bag was thoughtfully packed with tools designed to support emotional well-being during the summer months — helping children navigate change, uncertainty, and big feelings with comfort and reassurance.

For many children, summer can bring disruptions in routine, increased stress, or fewer consistent support systems. Small, intentional items can help create moments of calm, stability, and care.

These bags are more than supplies.
They are reminders that a child is supported, valued, and never alone.
