The Closet of the Greater Herndon Area

Herndon's thrift shop that gives back! Open Monday-Saturday 10AM-5PM plus 5-8PM Monday & Thursday We receive no government funding.

The Closet is a nonprofit thrift shop founded by local churchwomen in response to a growing need in the community. Many churches had small “clothes closets” but the women felt a combined operation would better serve the needy, in particular the growing Vietnamese refugee community. The Closet began operations in 1974 and has grown steadily with its focus on helping low-income families, immigrants

and budget-conscious shoppers find quality clothing and household goods at affordable prices. The store has been located at 845 Station Street since 2000. In addition to its low prices, high quality goods, and merchandise variety, The Closet helps needy individuals referred by local social service agencies. We have given away more than $100,000 worth of clothing and shoes annually in recent years. Since its inception, The Closet has donated over $2.5 million in grants to local charities, including $350,000 in college scholarships. The Closet delivers its excess goods to communities in the Shenandoah Valley, where they are distributed free of charge to those who need a helping hand.

Dear friends and family of The Closet,

Please be advised that The Closet of Herndon will remain OPEN on Saturday, June 13th; however, renovations will be taking place at the front of the store.

Because the front entrance will be blocked during construction, all customers must enter and exit through the rear entrance of the store for the duration of the day.

As a small thank-you for your patience during these improvements, we are offering the following Saturday-only specials:

• All books — 25¢ each
• All kitchen items — 50¢ each

Please note:
• Kitchen items must have a kitchen department tag to qualify.
• All sales are final.
• Specials are valid Saturday, June 13 only.

IMPORTANT VOUCHER NOTICE

Due to the renovations, our Voucher Program will be CLOSED on Saturday, June 13.

We kindly ask all partner agencies, case workers, and supporting organizations to notify their clients that vouchers will not be accepted or processed on Saturday during the renovation work.

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we continue making improvements to better serve our community.

UPDATE to our friends and family of The Closet!

Polar Heat
Please note that donations will be closed on Saturday, May 16th, due to the Town of Herndon’s Polar Heat event taking place from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

The upper level of The Closet’s rear parking lot will also be closed for operations. The Town will be utilizing the lower level of our rear parking lot for guest and event parking.

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. We look forward to seeing you on Saturday.

Hello and Happy Sunday, Closet Family,

This is a quick reminder that on Tuesday, April 21st, The Closet will be closed from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM for a private, in-store Volunteer Appreciation Event.

The store will reopen to the public at 1:05 PM and remain open until 5:00 PM.

We appreciate your understanding and look forward to welcoming you after the event.
