Spotlight: Aubrey Bier🍎

Meet Aubrey Bier, a 10th grader from Missouri who dreams of teaching high school government! 📚

A passion for history inspired Aubrey to pursue a future in education and recognize the lasting influence educators can have on students:
“History has always been a passion of mine, so it only makes sense to go into teaching. I love the fact that I have the opportunity to shape the future of America. Teaching is an art, and I believe it should be more appreciated.”

Aubrey credits teacher Mr. Wellman as one of the biggest influences on this journey. From countless pep talks to a shared enthusiasm for politics, that support helped strengthen Aubrey’s passion for learning and teaching.

As a future educator, Aubrey hopes to make a meaningful difference for students:
“I hope to be the teacher that I needed. The teacher that notices, provides, and inspires.”

The nationwide educator shortage has also reinforced Aubrey’s decision to pursue teaching. Aubrey recognizes the essential role educators play in advocating for students and preparing the next generation.

Aubrey’s advice for anyone considering a career in education? 💬

Spotlight: Tokay High School FCCLA ❣️

Recruitment season is all about making new connections, finding new friends, and sharing everything FCCLA has to offer!

Tokay High FCCLA Members in California brought that spirit to their school’s lunchtime recruitment event, where students could stop by, learn more about FCCLA, and sign up to get involved.

With a custom FCCLA photo frame and FCCLA sunglasses, they made recruitment look pretty cool, too. 😎

Spotlight: Christopher Severne 🍎

Meet Christopher, an 11th grader from Minnesota who dreams of teaching Family and Consumer Sciences to students in grades 6–12 and becoming an FCCLA Chapter Adviser!

Christopher’s teaching journey began with a love for helping classmates and recognizing the lasting impact an educator can make:

“I absolutely love teaching and helping others in my classes. I also love that something I say to a student could stay with that person for the rest of their life.”

Joining FCCLA helped Christopher identify the right path:

“Once I joined FCCLA, I immediately knew I loved Family and Consumer Sciences. I also knew I wanted to become a Family and Consumer Sciences educator and even an FCCLA Chapter Adviser one day!”

Christopher credits three educators with shaping this future career path: FCCLA Adviser Mrs. Oechsle, Spanish teacher Mrs. Thorson, and former FCCLA Adviser Mrs. Thompson.

“Mrs. Oechsle has shown me so much about what it is like to be a teacher and how to stay optimistic even when it gets hard. Mrs. Thorson has an amazing teaching style where students respect her and she respects them. Mrs. Thompson is a kind soul who wanted everyone to experience FCCLA and did everything in her power to help students attend events.”

Christopher hopes to create a classroom where every student feels safe, supported, and valued:

“As a future educator, I hope to be the light in the lives of students who may not have one. I hope to provide a safe space for every student, no matter where they are in life.”

Christopher also recognizes the essential role educators play:

“Education is a fundamental aspect of life. Everyone should think back on childhood and remember the teachers who believed in and supported them. Without those educators, many people would not be where they are today.”

Christopher’s advice for future educators? 💬

“Go out and do it! Strive to support future generations in communities and around the world. You are amazing for what you want to do!”

Christopher describes teaching in one word: Fundamental. ✨

📚 Save the date for the second annual National Be a Teacher Day on October 8, 2026!

FCCLA Chapters across the country are invited to celebrate the impact of teaching, recognize the educators who inspire and empower students every day, and encourage the next generation to consider teaching as a rewarding profession.

National Be a Teacher Day gives FCCLA Members the opportunity to show appreciation for teachers while exploring how a career in education can make a lasting difference in schools, communities, and the lives of others. Through Chapter activities, recognition, and career exploration, members can discover the many ways educators lead, serve, and shape the future.

This celebration also connects directly to this year’s theme, Where Leaders Are Made.
Classrooms are places where leadership begins, and teachers play an important role in helping students build confidence, develop their potential, and become the leaders of tomorrow.

National Be a Teacher Day invites students to imagine themselves on the other side of the classroom, inspiring future generations and continuing that cycle of leadership.

🎉 Congratulations to the Manos Al Servicio FCCLA Chapter from Puerto Rico! 🎉

For the second year in a row, Manos Al Servicio was the first FCCLA Chapter in the nation to affiliate, completing affiliation as soon as registration opened on Monday, August 3!

This remarkable achievement reflects the Chapter’s continued commitment to service, growth, and leadership. Thank you for setting the pace and embracing the Ultimate Leadership Experience from day one!
