📖 Literacy isn’t just for kids.

When we hear the word literacy, we often picture a child learning to read.

But literacy follows us through every stage of life.

It’s understanding a job application.
Reading instructions on a medication bottle.
Managing finances and household bills.
Understanding important forms and documents.
Navigating technology.
And having the confidence to ask questions, learn something new, and make informed decisions.

Literacy creates independence, opportunity and connection — at every age.

That’s why Basic Education & Literacy is one of Rotary’s areas of focus, and why we’re spending September talking about the many ways literacy helps strengthen individuals, families and entire communities. 💙💛

📚 And this month, we’re putting those words into action through our Rotary Reads Community Book Drive. If you have new or gently used children’s books to share, we’re collecting through September 25!

📚 SHARE A BOOK. OPEN A DOOR. 📚

This September, the Hermitage Rotary Club is celebrating Basic Education & Literacy Month by putting books into the hands of children in our community — and we need your help!

We’re collecting new and gently used children’s books through September 25.

Have books to share? Getting them to us is easy!

📍 Drop them off at First National Bank, 3320 E. State Street in Hermitage
💙 Connect with any Hermitage Rotarian to arrange a drop-off
🚗 Or leave us a message below and we’ll coordinate a pickup!

Books collected will be shared with local organizations serving children and families, including the Children’s Center of Mercer County.

Whether it’s a beloved picture book, an early reader or a chapter book another child might discover for the first time, we’d love to give it a new home. 📖

Help us fill our community with stories!

Because when we share a book, we open a door. 💙💛
