There’s something truly special happening right here in our community. 💛

The Shenango Valley Special Games is an incredible nonprofit organization that gives every child in Mercer County with special needs the opportunity to compete, connect, and shine alongside their peers. Over the course of three days, these athletes participate in bowling, swimming, and track and field, building confidence, friendships, and unforgettable memories.

W***y had the chance to take part in today’s bowling event, and he absolutely loved every minute of it. The joy on his face said everything. Moments like this are what inclusion is all about.

A very special shoutout to Kaylie Riffe. Not only is she an outstanding special education teacher, but she also leads this entire organization with heart, dedication, and purpose. The impact she is making reaches far beyond these three days.

Special education teachers truly are a different kind of extraordinary. Their patience, compassion, and commitment change lives every single day.

Thank you to all of the teachers, supporters, and volunteers who made this year’s games possible. You created something meaningful for so many families, including ours.

Understanding IEPs, 504s, and School Supports
Navigating special education can feel overwhelming. The meetings, the terminology, the paperwork. It is a lot. This workshop is designed to break it down in clear, practical language so parents leave feeling informed and confident.

We are honored to welcome two incredible guest speakers:
Dr. Annessa Steele, Director of Student Services, Sharpsville School District & Mrs. Kailey Riffe, Special Education Teacher, Sharpsville Elementary School.

Together, we will cover:
• The difference between an IEP and a 504 plan
• How evaluations work
• What accommodations and supports really mean
• How to prepare for meetings
• How to advocate for your child with confidence

This will be an informal, supportive discussion with time for questions. You do not need to have all the answers. You just need to show up.
