A message from the post Commander:
Comrades,
The Red Cross is declaring a National Blood Supply Crisis for only the second time in its history. This is due to a significant drop in donations, falling nearly 25% lately.
Probably all of us have donated blood at some point in our military service. I donated blood multiple times in service myself, and more recently donated blood platelets here at home multiple times during the Covid pandemic.
I'm proposing we help out again by donating blood on our next meeting date, August 4. We would meet long enough to take care of any business as needed and then adjourn to the Red Cross donation site. I'll make advance arrangements with the Red Cross so they are expecting us.
Spouses would also be welcome, as would neighbors. After donating we would all be free to head for home.
I spoke with new District 5 Commander Sam McIntosh today. He thought it was a good idea, and confirmed the time required to donate would be community service hours.
Please confirm your availability to donate by August 3 so I have a number to give to the Red Cross.
Thank you in advance for considering helping in this important effort. Our help can make a real difference.
Regards,
Larry
