Boost Nevada We help small nonprofits start-up and scale-up

04/15/2025

We are looking for more investors to join us for our second round of funding and help us double our impact. Our members make a $1,000 donation annually and help recommend grant recipients. Please make your contribution by June 30, 2025 to participate in this round of funding. For further details and to make a contribution visit our website at www.boostnevada.org

This is what our first grant recipients had to say:

Hero School

“Thanks to the generous grant from Boost Nevada, we were able to complete a month of Hero School Strategic Interventions, engaging 1,014 unhoused individuals across Southern Nevada with tools to overcome downward spirals and repeated history. The month culminated in a 6-session Breakthrough Academy for more than 60 men and women, plus employment training and Identity Recovery, all during the hottest month of the year. On behalf of Frank, Diana, Donald, Shletha, Christopher and many others able to overcome years of homelessness, thank you.” -Elena Todd, Executive Director
Hero School®

From B.E. A S.H.E.R.O. :

“The grant from Boost Nevada significantly enhanced the B.E. A S.H.E.R.O. Foundation's efforts to combat human trafficking among teens in Las Vegas. This funding enabled the organization to provide over 1,000 adolescents with crucial anti-trafficking and predator awareness education, as well as essential hygiene supplies. Given that Las Vegas ranks first in the nation per capita for trafficking of minors, with the median age of an exploited child being just 12 years old, this initiative is vital in safeguarding vulnerable youth and empowering them with knowledge and resources to protect themselves.“”

This holiday season we are grateful for our founding donors and for the organizations doing such terrific work. We were able to fund our first grants to local nonprofits this year in the amount of $4,000 each to Hero School and BE A SHERO Foundation. Hero School teaches lifelong skills working with the homeless population to break the cycle of poverty and despair. BE A SHERO is focused on eliminating s*x trafficking in our community and easing the transition of victims into productive and fulfilling lives. We are honored to support these organizations and the great work they are doing in our community. Congratulations!

We also want to acknowledge our founding donors who made these grants possible. Thank you for being part of making our community a better place.

We are excited to launch Boost Nevada where philanthropic minded leaders help small nonprofits (under $250,000 annual revenues) start-up and scale-up. Boost Nevada is a concept created by Bart Patterson, immediate past president of Nevada State College, based on the shared assessment that small nonprofits struggle to get started and progress to the next level as they lack adequate funding and resources. Boost Nevada operates as a multi-donor fund affiliated with the Henderson Community Foundation whereby Boost Nevada members who contribute $1000 annually or $90 per month annually participate in identifying the area of greatest concern and then reviewing grant submissions to select recipients. The first 100 members will be identified as Founding Members. Boost Nevada will also participate in idea generation and identifying education resources to assist small non profits. Interested in learning more? Send an email to [email protected]. We have now initiated the first phase to sign up members, collect donations, and build a website. All donations are made through the Henderson Community Foundation at
