Spending time outdoors is great way for people of any age to to improve their physical and mental wellbeing. Whether you take a hike, go for a walk, or simply enjoying some fresh air, take some time to get outside this week.

Bonus! Enjoy free entrance to national parks on August 25th as the National Park Service celebrates its 110th birthday!

Cooler temperatures can actually be ideal for several vegetables. If you’re planting in late August or early September, consider fast-growing, cool-season crops like radishes, spinach, kale, turnips, and Swiss chard.

Keep in mind that planting dates vary across Utah due to differences in elevation, climate, and first-frost dates. Choose fast-maturing varieties and check your local first-frost date before planting. Crops planted this late may also need some protection if temperatures drop quickly.

A little planning now can mean fresh vegetables from your garden well into fall!
