Huge thanks to juliasandortv for coming to chat with us about the plight of America’s wild horses. As a follow up to the recent New York Times expose uncovering the fact that double the amount of federally protected wild horses are going directly to slaughter than in past years, Fox News spoke with us to begin unpack what’s really going on. We need to start from scratch to help fix a very broken system that’s harming the animals they are sworn to protect and care for. America, we must do better. Legislators, there are advocates and scientists ready to collaborate and rebuild so that we can protect these precious animals and the American legacy of freedom they represent! Thanks to all the advocates out there doing all they can to bring change, justice and protection. Please visit SAFEACT.org to stand up for the wild horses! Dakota is a 2020 black Mustang mare who’s was the first Mustang to join us at Liberty back in 2023. It took a kind group of advocates to rescue her from a notorious kill pen with her friend, Nikeata. Dakota has touched many hearts in her time at the sanctuary. Among other things, she was Scott’s girlfriend, Beila’s spirit horse and a big reason we were able to start introducing the Liberty Training Method to our rescues at the ranch. She was the first mustang to become interested in humans and really displayed an interest in connecting. Now she is home in Park City with her new Mom, Helene (a Liberty volunteer). We couldn’t be happier for them both and wish these ladies all the very best. We are so grateful to all who have cared for this gorgeous girl, our volunteers, Scott Horner, Beila Edelman | ICF PCC, NBC-HWC, RN Searra Brandt Gentry Martino Our next ADOPTION DAY is Saturday, Sept 19th 11-3 pm LibertySanctuary.org Link In Profile

We have a special ADOPTION story this week that’s more than a year in the making! Back in March 2025, Liberty volunteer Katie had spotted this sweet little mini horse in a Texas kill pen. The horse reminded her of a childhood horse and she really wanted to rescue the little girl. Problem was, Katie didn’t own land so she inspired a Liberty rescue. We couldn’t see Dolce travelling 17+ hours alone so we found just the perfect mini-donkey as a travel buddy. Fast forward to August 2026, Katie and Crispin are engaged, they own a farm and have room and the hearts to add to their equine family! And Dolce is already having fun and looking up to her new brother, Tesoro. Such a fairytale for sweet Dolce & Garbanzo! Thanks and congratulations to Katie & Crispin for all the magic they manifest and for giving these kids a wonderful forever home! 🙏✨💗Katie Liberty Sanctuary

What an incredible surprise for the WORTH THE RIDE kids and such a wonderful home and adventure for Liberty’s sweet Rowan, a 4 year old wild pony rescued from the Wind River Reservation. Dad Payton asked Liberty if we had a horse that could join their team and surprise the children. We knew that Rowan was up for the task so we hatched a plan! Days later, Rowan was at the Wild West Taylor ranch and training facility ready to meet his new family! Follow Payton Fisher as the Fisher family works to train their team with West Taylor Science Based Horsemanship. They will leave from CA in December and embark on a wild horse cross country trip with the whole family including Dad, Payton, Mom, Katie and their 5 children: Lily, 11 yrs, Paisley, 10 yrs, London, 8 yrs, Tyken, 7 yrs, and Ava, 5 yrs. Wild horses are America’s enduring legacy and deserve our attention and protection. We are grateful for the grit and dedication of the Fisher family and the Worth The Ride Team! We know that Liberty’s Rowan will be a great addition! If you will be in Colorado this week for the Mustang Summit, say hi to Payton and Lily! Follow Payton Fisher for updates. Here’s West Taylor working with Liberty’s precious Comanche who was rescued from slaughter in 2023 and who still is distrustful of humans. Before West, no one took a good look at his autonomic nervous system. It’s vital to have buy in from the horse for him to feel safe and to be able to learn. Lots of great messages in West’s session and we will be working with West to incorporate more of his science-backed techniques into our training curriculum. It’s especially helpful for horses like Comanche who deserves the benefits of partnering with the humans who love and care for him. Neuroregulation and dopamine release is so important in working with horses - especially rescued and traumatized horses. You can visit West at WildWestTaylor.com or West Taylor Science Based Horsemanship. Thanks so much to West Taylor, Kami Sue Taylor Searra Brandt Gentry Martino

More adoption updates!! Look at Tinker Bell (Fka Skye) with her new mom, Lisha. Tink has grown fond of drinking from a hose and has developed a funny ducky kiss face. She is doing so well and is truly loved! Max and Tatum are also rocking it this summer and have been competing in 4H. It’s hard to understand why some horses get slated for slaughter when they can clearly thrive in homes here. Takes a little work, but that’s our responsibility and joy as their humans. Thank to great trainers like Searra Brandt for helping move the herd forward. Remember, we have great horse partners for adoption at Liberty. Horses like Asher, Jasper, Dottie and Nikeata are ready for their forever homes! Come visit!! links in profile.
