This weekend, Liberty’s sweet reservation mare, Dottie, headed to her forever home in Park City. We couldn’t be happier for her. ❤️ Dottie is the 12th horse Liberty successfully rehomed this year - and not just any homes - great, vetted and qualified homes!

Nancy, a retired teacher and longtime equestrian, was looking for a companion for her aging horses and a riding partner of her own. With Dottie’s steady mind, lovely conformation, and irresistible personality, she was a perfect match. She’s already making friends—and starting to run the place!

Dottie came to Liberty in 2023 after passing from the Wind River Reservation through a notorious kill pen. Her parents were shipped to slaughter in Mexico just one day before she arrived with us. Named for the unusual dash and dot down her nose, Dottie got the chance every horse deserves: safety, love, and a future.

While we no longer rescue from kill buyers, we will always be grateful we found sweet Dottie and 11 other of her Wind River buddies and survivors.

We wish Nancy and Dottie a lifetime of happy trails. Thank you to Team Liberty for loving, nurturing, and preparing this sweet girl for her next chapter. ❤️

Meet Liberty’s new veterinary partner, Dr. Nick Morrow of Mountain Horse Medical. Dr. Morrow is an ambulatory large animal veterinarian and recent graduate of Washington State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Raised in Lehi, Utah, he is proud to serve communities throughout northern Utah through Mountain Horse Medical, the Park City-based practice he co-owns.

Dr. Morrow cares for horses, cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, and camelids. He also works with alternative livestock, exotics, and zoo species, including camels, yaks, water buffalo, bison, and zebras.

It is this adventurous spirit and his true dedication to his patients that made Dr. Morrow an easy choice to help support the health and wellbeing of the equines at Liberty. Here he is treating our wild pony, Rowan. Rowan returned from a recent adoption due to no fault of his own. Upon return, we noticed a golf ball sized sarcoid which Dr. Nick removed and sent for a biopsy. We greatly appreciate Dr. Morrow’s attention to details and focus on solutions.

Let’s face it - it’s their canyon and we are just living in it. Meet Deb’s paint, Shiloh who was rescued in 2016 and her “son” (shh don’t tell her), Milo. Besides being a great ranch horse, Shiloh has given comfort and guidance to a number of our young rescues. Milo has also helped acclimate our minis and has been our team mascot and emotional support to volunteers and visitors alike. Sweet Snowy girl is Gentry’s Idaho S**g and she helps keep things in line and even attends our weekly ranch meetings.

All of our animals play a vital part of Team Liberty. Remember, you can sponsor Milo & Shiloh and any of the kids on property. Sponsors donating over $1000 will receive a video message from their favorite kiddo!
