I’ve put some serious time in at Echo thus far this year and it’s been fun. Biggest 5 fish bag was 13lbs with the average right around 10lbs. I believe with our Black Bass Management efforts we will definitely start to see the average increase.

Due to scheduling conflicts and lower-than-expected participation, the Fish It Forward event at Jordanelle will be postponed. We’re already looking ahead to bringing it back at a later date.

We truly believe in the power of events like this to bring anglers together, share knowledge, and strengthen our fishing community.

Below is the information for the American Fisheries Society - Biologist & Angler Networking Event.
I look forward to seeing everyone there!

Here is an update and registration link for the angler social event being hosted by the Utah Chapter of the American Fisheries Society, on March 3rd at the Officers' Club at the University of Utah. Most information can be found on the attached flyer.

Expect to have a fun-filled night getting to talk to both biologists and other anglers from different backgrounds. We will begin the night with a welcome hour from 5-6, where a light dinner and drinks will be served. Immediately after, at 6 pm, we will jump into 3 unique presentations from people of varying backgrounds (DWR, Trout Unlimited, and Social Media). These three presentations will cover the sides of fisheries management and use that we might not know about. Following these presentations, there will be a panel discussion which will include both members of the public and professionals, who will be answering a variety of questions regarding fish, fish management, engagement, and other aspects, we are professional and anglers think about when managing or using the resource. This event will hopefully engage you as the audience, where you get a chance to rebut, comment, or ask follow-up questions, sparking a unique back-and-forth discussion, which does not normally occur on a typical phone call with the biologist. We will have a final 30-minute wrap-up where you can engage with others and plan some fishing trips with people you might not have thought about before.

🎣 Who Would Be Interested in Attending This Event? 🎣

On the evening of March 3rd, the Utah American Fisheries Society is hosting a Public Networking Event at the Officers’ Club at the University of Utah (4:00–8:00 PM), and this is shaping up to be a great opportunity for anyone passionate about Utah fisheries.

This event is open to the public and will give anglers, guides, and conservation-minded folks the chance to meet and talk directly with the professionals who manage Utah’s fisheries at the private, federal, and state levels.

You can expect:
• 🎤 2–3 fisheries professionals highlighting key management initiatives currently underway in Utah
• 🐟 Topics covering warmwater and coldwater fisheries, hatchery management, and interagency collaboration
• 🤝 Plenty of time to network and have real conversations with biologists you know — and ones you should know
• 👥 A chance to connect with other anglers, guides, and social media influencers who share the same passion
• 🎁 Raffle items and a light dinner provided

Presentations will take place during the middle portion of the event, but the entire evening is designed for conversation, learning, and connection.

👉 For those interested in getting more involved with the Utah Bass Angler Coalition (UBAC):
This event is a great opportunity to connect with us and learn more about what’s being discussed and developed at the Division level. We’ll be there to meet people who may be interested in joining the UBAC Council and helping shape the future of Utah’s bass fisheries through collaboration, education, and habitat-focused efforts.

More details on the program, presentations, and registration will be shared soon.
For now, drop a comment or 👍 if this is something you’d be interested in attending!

Do perch provide excellent forage early, but become less effective as they grow?
Or do they remain an important food source throughout their life cycle?

We’re not here to push a conclusion — we want real-world observations:
🎣 What have you seen in stomach contents?
🎣 What are you catching big bass around?
🎣 Do you notice size limits where perch seem to “age out” as forage?

Drop your thoughts below. Conversations like this help UBAC better understand forage dynamics in Utah waters. 💬
