Wasatch Education Foundation

Wasatch Education Foundation As it grows, WEF is excited to add new initiatives to further support all grade levels, further enriching student achievement and staff success.

Wasatch Education Foundation partners with our community to fund scholarships, teacher awards, student food programs, and more—raising $1M+ annually to support Wasatch County School District students and staff. ❤️📚 The Wasatch Education Foundation (WEF) was re-established in July 2019 as an arm of the Wasatch County School District to ensure its efforts aligned closely with the Dist

rict’s Mission and Vision. With a refreshed mission—“Engaging community and corporate partners in providing supplemental resources to the Wasatch County School District to improve educational outcomes”—the Foundation has expanded its impact across a range of programs. WEF funds and administers the Wasatch High School scholarship program, awarding over $500,000 in scholarships each year to nearly 300 graduating seniors, including 43 We Rise students attending seven Utah universities with scholarships ranging from $2,500 to $8,000 annually and dedicated mentoring throughout college. Additional initiatives include the Distinguished Educator program, providing nine exceptional teachers with $10,000 each; student food security programs like elementary and middle school backpacks and a high school food pantry; and administrative and fiscal support for the Wasatch Parent Network (WPN), which joined WEF in 2020. The Foundation also offers a no-cost fundraising platform for WPN, athletics, and activities, helping raise over $1,000,000 annually—all reinvested into Wasatch County students and staff.

Some educators teach lessons that last beyond the classroom. 💛 Congratulations to Timpanogos Middle School’s Sarah Bray, named a Wasatch Education Foundation Distinguished Educator and recipient of a $10,000 award. Cannon Taylor beautifully shares how Sarah’s humor, resilience, and unwavering love for students continued even through her battle with breast cancer. We are proud to celebrate an educator who shows up, lifts others, and inspires every day. Thank you, Cannon, for continuing to spotlight the extraordinary people of Wasatch County School District.

We’re incredibly grateful to see the stories of our amazing educators being shared. ❤️

In this piece by Cannon Taylor in The Park Record, readers get a glimpse of what the Wasatch County School District Distinguished Educator Awards mean to the teachers who receive them — and the students whose lives they impact every day.

From Timpanogos Middle School special education teacher Jessica Potter, who was surprised with a $10,000 award in front of her students and family, to Wasatch High School ELL teacher Kim Foy, who used part of her award to give back to student scholarships, the story highlights the powerful connections between educators and the students they serve.

Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor through the Wasatch Education Foundation, nine educators will again be recognized this year with $10,000 awards.

📅 Nominations for the 2026 Distinguished Educator Awards are open through March 13, and anyone — students, parents, colleagues, and community members — can nominate a deserving teacher.

“Is it a family reunion?” one student asked.
“It’s your birthday? Happy birthday!” another shouted.

The mystery visitors entering a fifth-grade classroom at J.R. Smith Elementary last week weren’t there for a celebration of a holiday or a birthday — they were there to honor Kristi Davis, Wasatch County School District’s 2026 School Counselor Impact Award recipient. Kristi’s care for students, families, and teachers makes a difference every single day, and we are so grateful for the way she helps our students build confidence, resilience, and the skills they need to thrive.

Thank you to Cannon Taylor at The Park Record for capturing this wonderful story and helping highlight the incredible impact school counselors have on our students and community, and thank you to our generous, anonymous donor for making this award happen!

✨ A Surprise Boost for Two Incredible Educators ✨

Just before Winter Break, the Wasatch Education Foundation had the joy of surprising two outstanding educators with Teacher Boost Awards—a moment filled with gratitude and encouragement.

Wyatt Karnes of Wasatch High School and Stephen Phillips of Rocky Mountain Middle School each received a $1,500 Teacher Boost Award, made possible through a fund established with the Foundation by an anonymous donor. The award is designed to support promising educators early in their careers by providing unexpected financial support to help them persevere, continue growing in their craft, and feel seen and valued for the important work they do every day. This support is meant to uplift educators at a critical stage, offering encouragement when it matters most.

We are deeply grateful to our anonymous donor for investing in the future of education in Wasatch County, and we congratulate both recipients on this well-deserved recognition. 🍎
