Most recent excursion: 10 stepped up for a week in the Wyoming wilderness.

Many have signed on to come back as mentors.

Your dollars covered every bit of it.

It started with 2,977 flags.
One for every life lost on 9/11.
Then came the Ride.
Then the realization: the ones who serve need more than equipment, they need each other.
Help us keep serving them.

This Veterans Day, we honor the men and women who stepped forward when our country called. Their courage and sacrifice deserve more than a single day of gratitude.

A day is meaningful - but a year of support can change a life.

Today, we are introducing HEARTLINE, our monthly giving program that supports veterans in their ongoing journey toward stability, connection, and renewed purpose.

If it’s within your ability, please consider joining HEARTLINE and supporting our veterans not only today, but every month of the year.

Gratitude is a moment. Support is a lifetime.

Join HEARTLINE. (Link in bio)

Chandra not only helps develop and lead our retreats with care and intention, but she also plays a key role in teaching our leadership training program. Her heart for service, deep well of wisdom, and dedication to building up other women make her an essential part of our mission. We’re honored to have her leading the way.

"Hello my name is Chandra and I help lead the women’s trips for White Heart. I am a Navy Veteran and served as a master at arms (military police). My career started as a reservist while I finished my bachelors degree in criminal justice. I was deployed in 2009-2010 as a prison guard in the Middle East. After returning home I had some struggles and went on a White Heart trip which inspired me to turn my pain into purpose and give back to other veterans. I eventually went on to get my masters degree in social work as I continue to try and give back to my community. I love leading these trips and helping other veterans find support while getting closer to nature and finding adventure. "

Meet Gloria — one of our outstanding leaders.
She participated in our leadership training program last year and has since brought her strength, wisdom, and compassion to the women she now leads. We’re incredibly grateful to have her guiding our community. Below is a short bio highlighting her background and the experience she brings to the table.

"Gloria A. Downey is a medically retired Major of the U.S. Air Force JAG Corps. She left her career as a Public Defender in response to the 9/11 terror attacks and spent nearly 7 years focused on combating the military sexual trauma epidemic from 2002 to 2009. During the surge of 2007 she was deployed to Baghdad and served in Task Force 134 where she prosecuted terrorists in the Central Criminal Court of Iraq. With no formal combat training, Gloria completed 80+ on foot missions into the Red Zone under guard. During this most deadly period of the Iraq war, Gloria was injured leading to her medical retirement in 2009. For her exceptional service she was promoted to Major upon retirement. Unfortunately, Gloria was met with apathy and neglect by both the Air Force and VA healthcare services and was not able to begin recovery for over a decade. Gloria finally found a great VA in 2017 and began receiving desperately needed health care. Gloria credits the numerous non-profits who provide support to wounded warriors for helping to save her life by guiding her to supplemental healing, primarily through recreation, art and holistic therapies. Gloria retrained and now makes films about the veteran experience with a focus on the stories of women veterans. Gloria has found her new mission and purpose in helping other veterans find healing, serving as a mentor for several veteran nonprofits, and is a proud member of the White Heart family."
