Steven Lloyd Pence, age 59, of Viper, KY, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington, KY. Steven was a dedicated member of the Black Gold Festival Committee and Jakes Branch Fire and Rescue. He was employed by Winterwood Properties. He found joy in many simple pleasures in life, including working bingo, tending to his flower garden, and cooking. Above all, Steven cherished the people around him. Those who knew him will remember him as a true people person who brought laughter and joy wherever he went. He had a wonderful sense of humor, loved to joke, and had a special way of making those around him smile.
Steven was born on December 05, 1966, in Hazard, KY, to Lloyd Pence and the late Eliza Stacy Pence. In addition to his mother, he is also preceded in death by One Sister: Patty Trent and One Brother: Tony Pence.
Besides his father, he is also survived by One Daughter: Jessica Pence (Jeremy) of Chavies, KY; Two Sons: John Pence (Laura) of Chavies, KY & Jeremy Pence of Viper, KY; Two Grandchildren: Halie & Kiara; One Great-Grandchild: Zurionna; Bonus Children: Rachel Beverly & Jordan Campbell and Special Friend: Danielle French.
Arrangements are being handled by Maggard's Mtn. View Chapel where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, August 28, 2026. Funeral Service will be at Maggard's Mtn. View Chapel at 1:00 PM, Saturday, August 29, 2026, with Donnie Oliver officiating. Interment will be at Francis Branch Cemetery, Jeff, KY.
