Kentucky Game Wardens extend our deepest condolences and prayers to the family, friends, and fellow officers of Officer David Taylor.

We mourn alongside the law enforcement community during this heartbreaking loss. Please keep Officer Taylor’s family, loved ones, and brothers and sisters in uniform in your thoughts and prayers during the difficult days ahead.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is mourning federal wildlife officer David Taylor, 38 of Scio, Oregon, who is believed to have died while helping evacuate residents threatened by the Railroad South Fire.

Officer Taylor was going door to door alongside local emergency crews helping families get to safety. His last contact with dispatch came while he was helping a family evacuate their home. Evidence recovered from a structure where he was working to help a resident escape indicates that he died during the evacuation effort. Formal identification remains pending with the medical examiner.

Everything we know about David's actions reflects extraordinary courage, selflessness and devotion to duty.

Our hearts are with his family, friends, fellow officers and all who served alongside him. We will never forget his service.

Being National Dog Day, we couldn’t let the day slip by without showing some love to our four-legged Game Wardens! 🐾

These three K9s play a tremendous role in assisting our Game Wardens with their day-to-day operations. Whether they’re working in the field, assisting with investigations, or simply riding alongside their handlers, they’re always ready when called upon.

We may be a little biased, but we think we’ve got three of the best K9s around!

Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Game Wardens have arrested Cody Casey, 34, of Harrodsburg, on a 19-count indictment related to the July 4 boating collision on Herrington Lake that resulted in the death of Nazar Svintozelskiy, 25, of Nicholasville, and serious injuries to his father, Alex.

The indictment follows an extensive investigation conducted by Game Wardens in cooperation with the Mercer County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.

Casey is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court. Because the case is now pending, no additional investigative details will be released at this time.

Anyone with information about the collision who has not yet spoken with investigators is asked to contact KDFWR Law Enforcement through KSP Post 7 at 859-623-2404.

Texas Game Warden K9 Lola, her handler and a pilot with our Unmanned Aircraft Systems Program assisted local and state law enforcement partners in Erath County today following an escape from the jail.

Starting from the suspect’s discarded pants, Lola followed his scent for more than a mile, across streets, past businesses and down alleys, until they reached the Bosque River. Turns out, ditching your pants doesn’t equal ditching your scent when you have a pro like K9 Lola on your trail.

She easily led her handler to the suspect on the other side of the river. He was subsequently taken back into custody by the Erath County Sheriff’s Office.

Outstanding work by everyone involved in bringing the incident to a safe conclusion. (And yes, Lola got a bath.)

While we’re incredibly thankful everyone made it out safely, they’re now faced with the heartbreaking task of rebuilding their lives from the ground up.

Our thoughts and prayers are with our brothers and sisters at the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. Praying for strength, safety, and comfort for all involved during this difficult time!

Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife is heartbroken to share that Game Warden Pilot Joshua Tibbetts died this morning in a plane crash in Avon, ME.

Game Warden Pilot Tibbetts served the people of Maine as a Maine Game Warden for 18 years, including the last three years as a pilot for Maine Warden Service. In that role, his specialized aviation work supported search and rescue, law enforcement, fisheries and wildlife conservation, and public safety across the state.

This is an incredibly difficult loss for his family, friends, colleagues, and the entire Maine Warden Service. We ask the public to keep his loved ones, his fellow Game Wardens, and all those affected by this tragedy in their thoughts in the days ahead.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing. The Department will cooperate fully with the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.

We are grateful for the emergency personnel who responded to the scene and for the support already being shown to the Maine Warden Service family.
