Big things happen when passionate leaders gather!

The EKCEP team recently attended the SWATT Retreat, where they spent time collaborating with regional partners, sharing best practices, and strategizing new ways to strengthen workforce development in our region.

For those unfamiliar, SWATT (Statewide Workforce and Talent Team) is a collaborative initiative led by the Kentucky Chamber Foundation in partnership with workforce, education, and economic development leaders. SWATT unites workforce professionals across all 10 of Kentucky's workforce regions to streamline business solutions, align training with real employer demand, and connect job seekers with career opportunities.

We’re so proud of our team for constantly seeking ways to grow and better support Eastern Kentucky’s workforce and business community!

Over the past two years, thanks to vital support from the Kentucky Opioid Abatement Advisory Commission, EKCEP’s Project REACH has helped make a difference in the lives of Eastern Kentuckians.

With this funding, we connected 907 individuals in recovery from opioid use disorder with dedicated career services. The real-world results speak for themselves:

- 462 new job placements

- Average reported wages of more than $13 per hour

- 166 maintained-employment outcomes

As our Executive Director Becky Carnes-Miller noted, real recovery includes taking the next step into a job, a paycheck, and a more stable life. We are incredibly proud of the participants who put in the hard work to move forward, and we are grateful to the Commission and our partners at Middle Kentucky Community Action Partnership Inc. and LKLP Community Action Council for helping us make this possible.
