AVA Care of Harrisonburg is a medical nonprofit serving women at risk of or facing unintended pregnancy since 1984. We believe that information empowers.

We provide free pregnancy testing and confirmation – so she knows for sure. Additionally we provide STI testing and treatment. We advocate for our clients, validate their concerns, and provide answers to their questions – no matter what they decide. At AVA Care, we understand the difficulty of facing an unintended pregnancy. We strive to provide you/her with objective sexual health education so she can make a confident and informed decision if she has a positive test. Long story short, we are her clinic for pregnancy testing and decisions. We are here to confirm her pregnancy, advocate for her, validate her concerns, and provide answers to her questions. We are here for her – no matter what she decides.

At AVA Care, an ultrasound is a window into the womb, providing women with important information about how far along they are, whether the pregnancy is located in the uterus, and whether there is a heartbeat.

But it can also open the door to the heart.

Often, an ultrasound can make all the difference in a woman's decision to choose life. It can soften a guarded heart, turn uncertainty into clarity, detachment into attachment, and fear into hope.

An ultrasound can open a woman's eyes to see that it's not just a pregnancy; it's a baby.

Every life is precious, no matter how brief their time with us may be, whether in the womb or in our arms.

During Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, our hearts and prayers are with those who have experienced the loss of a baby. We know that no amount of time can determine the value of a life or the love a parent has for their child. We pray that those who are grieving would feel the comfort, peace, and love of the Lord, today and in the days to come.

It's Pastor Appreciation Month so we want to take a moment to say thank you to the incredible pastors in our community. We know the joys and sorrows of ministry, but we cannot know what that truly looks like for those in pastoral leadership. Each member of our team is personally blessed by our own pastors, but we're also grateful for the support and care from the pastors and churches who partner with AVA Care.

May the Lord continue to strengthen, equip, and uphold our pastors! We pray that the Lord blesses you, comforts you, and gives you wisdom and grace as you teach, serve, and care for your congregations.

We get to celebrate TWO staff member birthdays today! Our staff just wouldn’t be the same without Kara and Alicia. Not only are they vital to our team, but they together make a fantastic team while caring for our patients. They are confident, compassionate, dedicated, and willing to enter into dark places with the light of life. We’re thankful for the laughter, joy, wisdom, and leadership these incredible women bring. Please pray blessing over them as they continue to work out their calling at AVA Care and within their families.
