A nursing home in NWA called us recently and said something I can’t stop thinking about.
“We don’t have anything to give our moms for Mother’s Day this year. can you help?”
Just imagine that for a second.
A building full of mothers.
Women who raised kids, packed lunches, worked jobs, paid bills, sat through ballgames and stayed up with sick babies…
…and there was nothing special waiting for them on Mother’s Day.
Over the last 3 weeks, people here in Harrison have helped us deliver hundreds of wishes, Smile Sacks and Mother’s Day gift bags to nursing home seniors across Arkansas. We took care of the moms, dads, aunts..all of them.
Boxes piled up.
Cars packed full.
Kids carrying bags bigger than they were.
Volunteers making trip after trip out of town.
No fancy gifts, just sweet cards, treats trinkets and art from kids.
And because of this community, a whole lot of moms are going to feel remembered this Mother’s Day. All the bags arrived in time. Dads will be smiling too!
That matters more than people realize and we are grateful!
Ty Wanda, Rachel and her big family, Leslie, Kim, Amanda & Robin. Ty to Melody Seigler, Jan Walker and Helen Fish for packing the bags
