We are the only member-led statewide environmental organization in Pennsylvania.

We're dedicated to exploring, enjoying, and protecting Pennsylvania's wild places. The Pennsylvania Chapter was organized in the early 1970s and is comprised of 24,000 members in ten Groups. The ten Groups inside our Chapter are the Lake Erie Group (LKE), the Allegheny Group (ALG), the Moshannon Group (MSH), the Otzinachson Group (OTZ), the Lancaster Group (LAN), the Kittatinny Group (KIT), the Governor Pinchot Group (GVP), the Southeastern Group (SPG), the Lehigh Valley Group (LVH), and the Northeastern Group (NEA).

Governor Shapiro and the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) announced that they are putting together new rules to reduce Pennsylvania methane emissions, the potent air and climate-warming pollutant that leaks from fracking and oil and gas drilling. The DEP is writing these new standards now, and you can help shape them to make the regulations as strong as possible.

After years of dedicated advocacy by firefighters, environmental organizations, public health experts, and concerned residents, the Pennsylvania General Assembly has passed Senate Bill 804. This bipartisan legislation is a major victory for the health of first responders and the safety of Pennsylvania’s water and communities.

PFAS chemicals in firefighting foam have contaminated groundwater and drinking water supplies in communities across the Commonwealth, including near military bases, airports, and training sites. The new law bans the manufacture, sale, and distribution of Class B firefighting foams containing intentionally added PFAS chemicals beginning July 1, 2027, and prohibits their use by firefighting entities starting January 1, 2028, with limited exceptions.

🤫 🚨BREAKING: The EPA announced today, in a closed-door meeting with the fossil fuel industry, that it is preparing a proposal that would permanently eliminate some of the 2024 Methane Rule’s most important safeguards.

"The Trump Administration is not doing anyone any favors by reducing these regulations, not the industry, not the environment, and not the American people who will feel the health impacts of these decisions for years to come."
