This August, staff from our Bronx and Emeryville offices came together at the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) Conference to share ideas, learn from one another, and present the work we’re doing in energy efficiency.

It was great to have both coasts represented and to see our teams working together, sharing their experiences, and learning from one another. We’re proud of the work we do to support our communities in the transition to a more energy-efficient, sustainable, and resilient future. 💡🌱🤝

We are thrilled to announce that we have been awarded the CalMTA Room Heat Pump (RHPs) Market Transformation Initiative!!

As California moves toward its decarbonization goals, RHPs will be a critical solution to provide cooling for small single-family and multifamily homes as well as supplanting inefficient gas and electric resistance space heating.

We are looking forward to undertaking this important work with CalMTA and our partners Energy Solutions and Slipstream to advance this market sector and commercialization of room heat pumps. CalMTA is a program of the California Public Utilities Commission and is administered by Resource Innovations.

We’re excited to share our participation in the renovation of Edenwald Houses, a 41-building NYCHA campus in the Bronx, AEA is currently the project’s sustainability and LL88/LL87 consultant. 🏢💡⚡

The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026 and represents an important investment in the long-term performance, resiliency, and sustainability of the campus and its residents’ homes.

AEA is proud to contribute our sustainability expertise to this significant project alongside the project team and our partners.

Edenwald is a significant part of NYCHA’s broader ongoing efforts to rethink, rebuild, and create more resilient communities, as featured in the latest issue of AIA New York’s Oculus magazine.

In case you missed it, AEA is proud to announce Midea Heating & Cooling North America as the winner of the NEAA Hot Water Innovation Prize!

Midea’s compact split-system heat pump water heater concept is designed to overcome space and installation barriers in multifamily buildings, helping expand access to efficient water heating in apartments and other space-constrained homes.

AEA is proud to support this effort to accelerate practical, high-efficiency water-heating solutions and bring innovative technologies to the market.

WE ARE WEATHERIZATION 💙🏠

Throughout this legislative session, the Association for Energy Affordability worked alongside partners across New York State to advocate for continued investment in the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP), sharing the stories and impact of weatherization with policymakers.

Today, we're celebrating a major win: $40 million in WAP capital funding included in the final New York State budget.

This investment will help preserve the WAP workforce and ensure local agencies can continue serving families, seniors, veterans, and households in need across the state.

Every day, WAP crews help New Yorkers stay safely in their homes by improving energy efficiency, lowering utility bills, enhancing housing conditions, and supporting local jobs.

Thank you to the New York State Legislature and Governor Kathy Hochul for supporting this critical investment, and to everyone who advocated for weatherization this session!
