Some things are simply better together. Like best friends who bring out the best in each other, brunch just isn't quite the same without a Mimosa. When it's missing, you can definitely feel the difference.
A classic Mimosa is made with equal parts Champagne and fresh orange juice. Its name is inspired by the vibrant yellow blossoms of the Mimosa tree (Acacia dealbata), whose bright color mirrors the cocktail's sunny hue. Many credit Frank Meier, a bartender at the Ritz Paris, with popularizing the drink in the 1920s, though its close cousin, the Buck's Fizz—made with two parts Champagne and one part orange juice—also emerged around the same time in London.
Although its roots are European, the Mimosa has become an American brunch icon. Between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., it's one of the most requested cocktails, making appearances at weekend gatherings, celebrations, and leisurely brunches everywhere. It's no surprise that many restaurants now offer bottomless Mimosa specials and brunch deals centered around this timeless favorite.
So the next time you raise a glass, remember: every great brunch deserves its sparkling companion.
🥂 Cheers to good friends, great conversations, and the perfect pour.
