We envision a world where every human being experiences a true sense of belonging. YWCA Hamilton offers permanent supportive housing through the Goodman Place program. We provide Housing First, Trauma Informed Care, Harm Reduction, and Culturally Competent evidenced based supportive services on campus in 45 one bedroom apartments for individuals who have been chronically homeless and have disabilities. YWCA Hamilton offers protective shelter for those escaping domestic We provide Housing First, Trauma Informed Care, Harm Reduction and Culturally Competent evidence based supportive services in 15 one bedroom apartments to help individuals, and their dependents and pets, locate and secure safe affordable housing after shelter. YWCA Hamilton offers youth programs through social emotional learning called FIERCE Girls and Men of Honor. We provide Trauma Informed Care and Culturally Competent evidence based group discussions and activities. Our trained facilitators use research selected curricula to inspire youth to be fearless, independent, educated, resilient, confident, and engaged while challenging them to become future allies in the movement to end domestic violence.

Every Survivor Deserves Safety. 💜

At YWCA Hamilton, we believe that every survivor of domestic violence and their family deserves a safe place to turn. When someone reaches out in crisis, safety shouldn’t depend on whether a room is open, a phone gets answered, or an advocate is available.

Through emergency shelter, advocacy, and comprehensive support, we ensure that fleeing violence is the beginning of a healing journey, not the end. Your generosity makes every step of that journey possible.

In 2022, thanks to a community that believed in this mission, we opened a new campus that more than doubled our shelter capacity. While that was a milestone worth celebrating, the urgent reality is that it still isn't enough:

Last year was the deadliest on record for domestic violence in Ohio, claiming 157 lives and leaving 92 children without a parent.

In Butler County alone, two lives were lost to domestic violence.

Demand for our crisis line has more than doubled in just three years.

We meet survivors the moment they reach out and walk alongside them through every step forward:
📞 24-Hour Crisis Support: Our hotline connected over 3,000 callers last year to immediate safety planning day and night.
🏠 Dove House Shelter: Butler County’s only domestic violence shelter features 15 private apartments where 195 survivors, children, and their pets found refuge last year.
🌱 Comprehensive Care: Beyond a safe bed, we provide victim advocacy, support groups, emergency food and clothing, workforce development, and youth programming.

These services turn a single night of emergency shelter into a permanent exit from abuse. When families reach out, your support ensures we are ready to answer The Call That Can't Wait:

$25 provides one-way transportation to safety and support.

$50 funds one day of supportive housing services toward stability.

$130 covers one night of safe shelter, care, and emergency support.

$250 equips a family with a starter kit to establish a comfortable new home.

$800 sponsors a student in our 10-week FIERCE Youth Program, building leadership and resilience to prevent trauma before crisis repeats.

💜 October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and there are so many ways to show your support, raise awareness, and take action in our community all month long.
Mark your calendars and join us for these key initiatives:
💜 Purple Thursdays (All Month Long): Wear purple every Thursday throughout October to show solidarity with survivors and spark conversations in your workplace, school, and neighborhood.
👟 L.O.V.E. Walk (Saturday, Oct. 17): Lace up your sneakers and join us at Marcum Park at 8:00 AM as we walk together in support and unity!

The need is growing. So is our resolve.
For more than 125 years, YWCA Hamilton has been a place of safety and hope for our community, and that mission has never mattered more. The road ahead holds real challenges: shifting funding, growing need, and a community that can't afford for us to step back. But we've never done this work alone, and we're not starting now. Saving lives and transforming futures is not work we do alone.
