Save the Date: 5th Annual Butler County Domestic Violence Summit 💜

Mark your calendars! The Butler County Domestic Violence Coordinating Council presents the 5th Annual Domestic Violence Summit on Friday, October 30, 2026.

Join advocates, community partners, social workers, and legal professionals as we come together to share insights, collaborate, and strengthen our collective efforts to support survivors and prevent domestic violence across our community.

Event Details:

🗓 Date: Friday, October 30, 2026

⏰ Time: 9:15 AM – 3:30 PM (Registration begins at 8:30 AM)

📍 Location: Wilks Conference Center at Miami University Hamilton (1601 University Blvd., Hamilton, Ohio 45011)

🥗 Lunch: Provided for attendees

Continuing Education Credits:
Coordinators are actively working to have the summit approved for CLE, GAL Rule 8, and Social Work CEU credits. Additional program details and session agendas will be released soon.

The Fitton Center and its partners will host a community celebration this month that highlights “The Soul of Black Folks: 250 Years of Creativity, Innovation and Leadership” exhibition curated by Carolyn L. Mazloomi of West Chester.

Stand for Art, Storytelling, and Justice: “The Soul of Black Folks” Exhibit 🧵✨

Mark your calendars! On Saturday, August 29th, from 12:30 PM to 5:00 PM, join us at the Fitton Center for Creative Arts in Hamilton for an extraordinary, museum-caliber quilt exhibit with engaging activities happening all day long.

The Story Behind the Art
Renowned artist and curator Dr. Carolyn Mazloomi was originally scheduled to showcase this exhibition at the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. However, when instructed to remove vital words like “racism” and other crucial historical context from the exhibit labels, Dr. Mazloomi chose integrity over censorship. She stood her ground, refused to compromise the truth of her work, and instead brought her traveling collection directly to communities that value honest storytelling.

YWCA Hamilton is showing up to demonstrate unwavering support for Dr. Mazloomi, her courage, and this magnificent collection.

As we head back to school, the YWCA Hamilton Empowerment & Advocacy Team would never miss an opportunity to show up and support our students! 🧡📚
We were excited to attend both the Hamilton and Middletown Open Houses and connect with students, families, and educators as we kick off another school year.
A special shoutout to the Leadership-RISE After-School Program and Dr. Daniels for always encouraging, supporting, and uplifting our students!

This August, during National Black Business Month, we honor the resilience, innovation, and leadership of Black entrepreneurs in our region. From neighborhood storefronts to local service leaders, these business owners drive our local economy and make Hamilton a vibrant place to live and work.

How you can take action this month:
✨ Intentional Shopping: Make a conscious effort to direct a portion of your monthly spending toward local Black-owned businesses.
✨ Amplify Their Voice: Like, comment, and share posts from local Black business owners to help boost their reach.
✨ Invest in Equity: Support organizations and initiatives that foster minority business growth and mentorship in our city.
