Announcing our 26/27 Season: Color Contrast 🎨
In the upcoming season, Repast weaves together early music and visual art in four programs inspired by color.
PIGMENT: PRUSSIAN BLUE traces the story of the first synthetic pigment through the intertwined worlds of music, science, and commerce, from its accidental discovery to its subsequent popularity, with music from Berlin to London.
SEPTEMBER 18, 19, & 20, 2026
REVOLUTION: RED, WHITE, AND BLUE tells the connected story of the American, French, and Haitian Revolutions in honor of America’s Semiquincentennial and the 2026 Midterm Elections, with text and music reflecting the shared colors of the nations’ flags.
NOVEMBER 6, 7, & 8, 2026
CHIAROSCURO: FINDING LIGHT IN DARKNESS, a study in contrasts, is a meditation on the transformative power of light through brilliant music by 17th-century female composers across Italy, accompanied by projected paintings of contemporary women artists.
FEBRUARY 5, 6, & 7, 2027
BROWNING: HER LEAVES BE GREEN is an ode to springtime set in the lush, verdant countryside, evoking a sound world filled with birdsong, shepherds, and country dances set alongside a visual backdrop of pastoral watercolors from 17th-century Dutch artist Gesina ter Borch.
