The Riley Institute at Furman

The Riley Institute at Furman Leadership. Knowledge. Impact. Furman University’s Riley Institute advances social and economic progress in South Carolina and beyond. (Dick) Riley.

The Riley Institute empowers emerging and established leaders—across sectors and throughout society—with the knowledge and tools to advance equity and drive social and economic progress in South Carolina and beyond. We work to strengthen public education; promote the power of diversity to help teams, organizations, and communities thrive; and elevate informed, evidence-based approaches to critical

public issues. In all it does, the institute is committed to nonpartisanship and a bias-free path to change. Launched in 1999, the Institute is named for former South Carolina governor and former U.S. Secretary of Education Richard W. Learn more at furman.edu/riley.

No caps and gowns at graduation day for the newest cohorts of the Upstate and Midlands (DLI).

Their final assignment? Projects designed to make a tangible difference in South Carolina communities.

Among this year's capstones were:
🟣 Connecting neurodivergent young adults to careers in manufacturing,
🟣 Supporting former foster youth as they enter the workforce,
🟣 Expanding literacy opportunities for children and families, and
🟣 Addressing food insecurity on college campuses.

Congratulations to our newest DLI graduates!
