Learning, connecting, and sharing ideas to help children thrive!

Our program director, Nicole Sheppard, and other HIPPY providers joined more than 2,000 participants from around the world at the Parents as Teachers NAVIGATE International Conference in Portland, Oregon, this past weekend.

We’re grateful for opportunities like these that strengthen our work with families and support a strong foundation for lifelong learning! 💙

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Stacy Burr to the Greenville First Steps Board! Dr. Burr is an Associate Professor of Early Childhood Education at USC Upstate and brings valuable experience and insight to our board.

Her advice to parents of young children? Talk with your children about the world around them, read all kinds of books together, and keep them off devices!

Strong voices for South Carolina’s children!

We’re proud to have Executive Director Derek Lewis serving on the Joint Citizens and Legislative Committee on Children. Last night, a public hearing brought together leaders from across the state to share perspectives and testify on issues impacting children and families in South Carolina, including:

-Emily Bartels, State Director of Reach Out and Read South Carolina
-Elizabeth Kabalka, Executive Director of Richland County First Steps
-Leslie Latimer, Executive Director of Palmetto Shared Services Alliance
