πŸŽ‰ Congratulations to Franklin County native and Y member Joseph Parzych, who participated in this past weekend's Flutie 5K in Bernardston! πŸ‘Ÿ Joe is an active member of our community and is involved with The United Arc . A self-proclaimed "Jack of all trades," he brings enthusiasm and positivity wherever he goes.

We're proud of Joe and all of the runners, walkers, and rollers who came out to make the event a success. Great job, everyone! πŸ’™πŸ’›

The United Arc exists to support individuals and families as they seek opportunities to obtain the universal goals of community inclusion, ownership of choice, and maximizing independence.

A few months ago, The Y put out a call looking for Y members over the age of 90 whose stories reflected the impact of the Y. I immediately thought of one person: Havi Stander.

We were honored when Reader's Digest reached out to schedule an interview with her, and we're excited to finally share her story with all of you.

Many of you may know Havi from her time at the Y. While she recently ended her membership, we know how important the Y has been in her life over the past several years. Through fitness classes and a strong sense of community, she found a place where she could stay active, connected, and engaged.

Just three weeks ago, at 95 years old, Havi joined water instructor Jane Kane, lifeguard Andrew Garappolo and some of her Deep Water Fitness class on a white-water rafting adventure - a perfect example of her adventurous spirit and the relationships built through the Y.

If you read her interview, we hope you'll reflect on the incredible impact our YMCA has on the lives of our members. Stories like Havi's don't happen by accident. They are made possible by the welcoming smiles, encouraging words, meaningful programs, and caring connections that is created every day in our building.

Thank you for making Franklin County's YMCA a place where people of all ages can connect, grow, and belong. There's no place like this place!

Enjoy Havi's story! https://www.thehealthy.com/aging/healthy-aging/the-100-years-strong-project-havi-stander/

β€οΈβ˜€οΈ Yesterday afternoon, we celebrated the amazing people who make our Y so special with a Staff & Volunteer Appreciation Day at Camp Apex!

Staff, volunteers, Board members, and families gathered for an afternoon filled with fun, food, and friends. Swimming in the pool or playing yard games to handing out silly awards, it was a wonderful way to kick off the summer together.

We are so grateful for our dedicated staff and volunteers who give so much to our Y and our community. Thank you for all you do - we appreciate you! πŸ’™

A special thank you to grill master Dave, and to Foster’s and Sweet Lucy’s for providing delicious sides and desserts.

A big thank you to Michelle Haley from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) for visiting Tyler and our Leaders Club!

Michelle gave Leaders the opportunity to experience the effects of impairment using Fatal Vision goggles and challenged them to β€œwalk the line.” This hands-on activity sparked important conversations about making safe choices and the dangers of impaired driving.

We appreciate MADD’s commitment to educating and empowering young people to make responsible decisions. πŸš—πŸ’™
