Happy Birthday Stone Soup Café! Here’s a special little bday video from the one and only Jeff Bridges!

Jeff’s friendship with Bernie Glassman and the Zen Peacemakers launched the original community meal in Montague that grew into Stone Soup Café!

Jeff has always used his platform to raise awareness about hunger and advocate for a world where everyone has access to nourishing food and that sharing meals could be a powerful way to build community and reduce suffering.

Fifteen years later, we’re still carrying that vision forward: creating a place where people from all walks of life can gather around the same table, share a meal, and connect as neighbors.

We’re grateful to Jeff for his decades of leadership in the fight against hunger and for taking the time to help us celebrate this milestone.

And we’re grateful to all of YOU! Stone Soup Café exists because thousands of volunteers, donors, farmers, cooks, and community members have helped build and sustain this community over the past 15 years.

We’ve hired a fantastic new chef to help lead our kitchen team! Chef Koti Dearborn grew up in Greenfield and has called Western Massachusetts home his entire life.

His passion for cooking began while attending Putnam Vocational Technical Academy’s Culinary Arts program in Springfield, MA, launching a career that has grown into more than 15 years of fast-paced, high-volume kitchen experience.

From line cooking to kitchen management, the culinary world is all he’s ever known. Still, if you ask him, he’ll tell you he’s only just getting “seasoned” — with plenty more to learn and many more dishes to create.

“I’m very excited to be a part of the next chapter at the Stone Soup. I’m dedicated to our noble mission while bringing a new evolution to such an amazing group. I’m focused on and delighted to bring my culinary abilities and knowledge to such an amazing team, as well as to our wonderful community.”
